What do you do on HOT weekends?

I'm working and like a lot of people, do look forward to weekends, so that I can relax and have some time for myself. One such weekend has just gone by and I didn't venture out of my flat even once! It has got a lot to do with the hot weather outside. Even though I am net savvy, there's only so much time you can spend in front of your laptop in a day and you need a break from that as well. My question is, am I the only one who felt this way or are there are others who face such a situation? How do you people kill time on those days when you are free but can't go outside?

I enjoy hiking on weekends. We either start early in the morning and return home before noon, or we leave in the afternoon and return before dark. The forest is a cool place to be when it's a hot summer day. Unlike the city, the temperature is acceptable in the woods and the shadow make you feel better. Do you like hiking?

Well I live in the awful and terrible State of Texas he he They should have a sign out there somewhere saying Welcome To h....lll not Welcome to Texas especially in the summer here!! But to pass the time I just stay inside and work on line here and so many other sites that I have joined in the past few years and if I have to gon out I make sure it is early or later in the afternoon. Then before the heat really hits. And lots of water... Have a good day and try to stay cool.

hahaha... every place has positive and negative things about it and Texas seems to be no exception. You have developed a nice, positive way of beating the heat as well as earning at the same time. All the best with that and keep going.

Hello to all. On hot weekends, I love going to the malls with my family. Sometimes we go to the beach. Some weekends we just check-in in a hotel, usually outside city, and enjoly the coller and fresher air while communing with nature. After that, go back to the hotel for a couple of hours of hotel services such as spa or massage to release the tensions and stress of work and to recharge for the coming work days..

Hello Christineli, Really a nice way to beat the heat. Would love to give that a try some time.

With the crazy weather we have been having lately I am sorry to say this but I think we are in for a VERY hot Summer. That being said I think there are alot of things a person can do in the heat of Summer. Go bowling or to a game place. See a movie. Doing things inside a place that is air conditioned is the ticket in my book. Be inventive.

Well, it's your time to do with as you please. Bowling is a great sport. People just think it is so out of it but it really isn't. It's great exercise and it is fun.

Thanks for the suggestion, Celticeagle. However, I am not the sort of person who likes bowling too much. May be its time to learn. Movies, yes but then you don't get watchable movies on every weekend, do you? And even if there are, we prefer going in the evenings so the day time is still free, without having much to do.

How I wish I could go swimming in a pool on a weekend but like an ordinary day you have so many things to do at home. Do the laundry, ironing of clothes, prepare food and some other household chores. Though on a Sunday however you presumed it to be a relaxation day after going to church really nice to take a break, go malling or with this hot summer really it's perfect to go swimming. There's a plan for us to have it on Mother's day. For the mean time however during weekends when we get free, just to kill time we prepare cold drinks or salads or fruit shakes and enjoy taking them just to ease the summer heat.

Hello friend, Thanks a lot for the suggestion. You are really skillful enough with cooking, it seems so you can try out new salads/cold drinks on such days. Yes, we do postpone a few chores for the weekend and it is the perfect time to do them. But again, after a while it becomes mundane and you get tired of doing it. Nevertheless, I'll surely give it a try.

hi jshekhar, you not alone in this, i also always feel like that some times, i am always busy with may work but in some off chancel i tiret to get out to go to the beach or bike ride arount the place where i liked , but on hot day comes, i am usually quiet at home to read by turning the air conditioner, there are some books that are relaxed like a comic or other light story but a book of philosopy, reading book of personality deplovemant is that i always read at leisure, this is usually helped me feel my free time when i could not go out on a hot day.

Thanks for the suggestion, Nabilaagina. It again boils down to books, doesn't it? I do like reading but can't spent more than a couple of hours a day with books. Hence, once that happens, I feel bored.

I work a lot on weekends. On the other hand, on days that I am off, I go outside really early in the day. In addition, I like to go to the library and read, or just enjoy the environment because it is a beautiful place. Stores and restaurants are air conditioned and cool, but you end up spending money. One other thing I like is to go to parks that have fountains or water or go to lakes or swimming pools.

These are really nice, inexpensive ways to spend your time. And at the end of it, you would end up a more knowledgeable person as well. I am more into outdoor sports and travelling so I find it tough to do these things on hot days.

I don't watch very much television so if it's a day I have off and it's very hot, I usually stay in and watch television, though I dont' go out very much anyway. I do laundry and usually have a small load twice a week, if that shows how little I wear. It's usually work and home, work and home.

Oh yes, just like you, because of the hot weather outside, i would prefer to just stay at home, watch TV or do Mylotting or FB over the weekend.

Hi Edison, Your interests are weather independent, I must say. Personally, I do like books but not a lot of them and somehow I have never been able to read them in pdf format.

Sometimes, I feel the same way too, when the temperature gets me burning, I try to buy an ice cream, or stay in my room and turn my air-con on. But there were times like once a month when I get the chance to spend a whole day inside the mall, watch movie, and go for ice skating, here in our country there's two mall that has an ice skating rink.

I have found that reading helps pass the time and you can sit outside in the shade to get some outside air as well but still stay cool. Bring a glass of lemondade with you!

Thanks for the suggestion, friend. However, I am not that kind of a person who can spend more than 2 hours of a day reading something, no matter how interesting it is. Hence the dilemma :)

If it is too hot to go outside I will usually just stay inside with the air conditioning on. I always have something I can do such as house work, I also have an online business and there is always work I can do. They opened up a new beach by us last year and we went there a couple of times. They have a park there where they have water shooting up, that is a fun place to go when it is really hot. If you are a resident of my city you can get in to the beach and that park for free. It costs a couple of bucks for visitors but it is worth it.
