i grew up when i was kid to sleep in the right time at night. i was not allowed to go out at all. and now i am seeing kids and teens staying outside their homes in the internet cafe. and spend their night their till the early morning. i guess even when i was young a lots of teens back then do that too. but maybe i just have not noticed it as i was mostly at home. but now with internet shop or cafe, which is just near our place i can see what kids do most of the time even if i don't know them.

I'm already 26 and i still stay awake at night till early morning. but for me it depends on the work i have. for kids and teens i think the parents should be responsible for their activities.

Personally I think the reason most kids are not getting enough sleep is because no one anymore sets an established bedtime for their kids even if they have kids who are school aged, or they are always letting the Xbox, WII, or the Internet be their babysitter and never making them sleep. Makes me wonder how anyone can get a Good grade anymore and be worth anything with never having to be accountable for anything.

When I was a student, I went to bed never later than 10 o'clock. After entering the college, I have to sleep late in 12 o'clock, for my roommates do that. Now as adults have to work late, children in the big city usually have their dinner late, sometime 8 or 9 in the evening, after that, they have to do some activities or homework, so the time for bed is quite late. If they they have to prepare for some tests, they may have few time for sleeping.

Well, I must then be considered as a kid or teen still as I seldom sleep at night anymore! But yes, even when I was a little bit young, I will go to over nights just playing games in the internet cafe or personal computers. And yes, there are still a lot of individuals in there playing. Well, maybe because night time is the only time available to use for such kind of playing time and most of the people don't have anything to do other than sleep. But it is quite concerning because most young ones are already accustomed to the night life making them more like zombies day after day! But that is how the world is molding the generation. With the fast paced life the world is giving, everyone must try to squeeze all the activities they need and want to do with the same 24 hours of time given. Hence, even the sleeping time is deprived just to go over with the things people want or need to do nowadays.

Here is Kerala most of the kids are not allowed to go to the internet cafe at night time because they are cared and they are look by their parents at all the time also the internet shops will be closed at night 6pm. I wounder about the things what is happening in your country. Why can't they keep their children near to them especially at night time.

Well i'm in my 16 now.Probably this is what you had meant as 'kids' then? Huh? Well, anyway i should say i don't roam about in the street late nights. My parents aren't that lenient towards me.They would however let me do anything inside the house provided i never disturb them.Well,it has become a habit for me to stay late night every day to just surf in the internet and do things.. Sometimes i would be busy with my books and pen, sometimes with thee keyboard and it all depends.. Oh,i personally and practically feel the reason for this increased roam at nights is parents are not like before looking keenly at child's habits and comeouts. And the second reason is we all, i mean the teens are fond of tours and outings with friends. We convince parents or we make me get convinced that we should be going to our friend's house for a project work and things to lie about and we roam (We in the sense doesn't mean including me-i just wanted to include myself in teens. My friends do it anyway.) My parents aren't like that. Hopefully they trust me and hopefully i would be and have been true to them all the time :)

well, i don't know. my family and i are modern day vampires. we do our day in reverse. when you sleep at night, we start our day. when you wake up...we go to sleep. this is our lifestyle choice because we could afford to do it that way. i do understand what you are saying though. kids are not getting there full eight hours. i think this is because they are getting ready to prepare for a world where you have to go get a job. as you know, that's when your lack of sleep begins. grown ups are not getting their right amount of sleep. so, i guess it prepares them for there future as adults. life is getting more demanding and more challenging.

When I was growing up my bed time was 8:00,an when I come from school I did have to do my chores and then home work and then bed. These now a days parents give their child/children too much freedom, especially at nights when they should be in bed. My parents was strict, even now they still are. Now a days kids have too much free time,an they spend most of it at internet cafe and movies. Kids need to get their night rest, and parents need to be more strict an their kids too.

Bad lifestyle bad food cause bad sleeping habit - Too much stimulation.
Teens nowsday , sleeping habit is not good and also drink too much caffeine and sugar and too much stimulation with online stuffs and multimedia sounds and movies and every thing they used from handphone, computer and other hand held device stimulate their mind too much hence with the insomonia and sleep only during the evening.

In my city, it is the same, many teenagers just stay up late in the internet shops and they may not go home for sleeping. They prefer play game day and night. It is not good at all, and their parent could not manage them at home.

I live in a big city but we don't have cyber café's over here.. it's normal people have it at home. I think many kids/teenagers stay at home, in their rooms, hardly have any contacts with others anymore except by the internet. Even calling is not hot anymore. The younger ones you might find around schools, just hanging around or breaking windows, although this is a certain kind of kid/teenager. Problem is there is hardly anything to do for them over here. Most are not accepted/allowed to visit pups also.. if you don't have money to spend you can only be outside on the street. I don't think you find many outside at night.. perhaps we have the lazy teenagers? Love to sleep for hours and hours? Also many do have a job next to school and all kind of sports.. so perhaps they are happy to do nothing and have some extra sleep. I think teenagers now are different from the teenagers (and kids) 20 or 4o years ago. You hardly see kids play outside on the street. We don't find it normal anymore they do so without a parent around. After school most go straight back home, parents pick them up or they go home alone and stay there till the parents come home from their job. It's seems to get harder and harder as well to make an appointment with outher kids to play or spend the afternoon together.

There are a lot of internet cafe here in our place as well and I also noticed that a lot of kids have been staying there until the wee hours of the morning. Especially now that they are on school break, most of them seems like are not going home anymore. I hope their parents would notice this and for once visit their kids and encourage them to come home, I do not think this is healthy anymore.

I was one of them I guess. I usually sleep past midnight, but I'm at home the whole time. I'm just too occupied with things I want to be done, and I was so caught up with it I don't even notice the time anymore. I like reading very much and surfing the net as well, so I kinda sleep really late because of that. And when I have nothing to do or don't have the heart to do the routine at all, I still couldn't catch sleep, because my body was used to its usual sleeping habit. But I believe I've always had trouble sleeping since I was little, and it just grew worse when I grew up. I could still remember when I was in high school, I would drink a very hot milk just so I could sleep a little bit early and have my much needed rest.
