Happy Mother's Day to all the Cat Moms out there!

Hey, why can't we be considered as kitty Mom's? We are just as responsible for the cats in our lives as we are with the children we might have brought into the world. The only difference is that the children become self sufficient and leave the nest while our cats are with us forever. It is like having four legged children when you have cats (and dogs). Actually they fit into the category of toddlers as you have to feed them, walk them, clean their potty areas, take them to the doctor when they are sick...need I go on? This morning started up as my days usually do. Let the dogs out, clean the little guy's pen, feed dogs, feed the outside cats, get dressed, and when I finally get my chores finished I get to eat. Yesterday, as a Mother's Day treat to myself I bought mini lemon scones. I don't usually buy bakery goods because they do add pounds to the waistline. I got two of the mini scones out and had them sitting on a plate on my table waiting for me to come and enjoy their lemony goodness and the crunch of the poppy seeds. I had to go take care of one more thing before I got to enjoy the scones, it only took a couple of minutes but I guess it was just enough time. I came back to sit down and enjoy the scones, but, the plate was empty except for a few crumbs. I went through the list of suspects. Abby wanted to go back outside after her breakfast...alibi confirmed. CD and Little Bit were in their pen, they had an alibi that was steadfast. Willy was still on the couch, plus he doesn't like sweets, his alibi checked out. Dinglebeary was locked in the closet (that was why I wasn't enjoying the scones), so he had an alibi. Khuay was dancing outside the closet so he was with me...another alibi that checked out. Murphy was asleep on the bed, I saw her creamy body curled up by the pillows. She had an alibi. Okay, maybe it was ghosts? Nah, there hasn't been any around for a few months. I sat at the table pondering who out of the remaining suspects...where there weren't any! Suddenly there was a soft thud on the table. Murphy had joined me for breakfast. I absent mindedly started petting her..."now who took my scones?" I finally looked at my sweet little girl. She is a lynx point Siamese, she's 18 years old and weighs all of 3 pounds. She is a dainty girl who has one passion, and that is canned whipped cream. I go through four cans a month to satisfy her passion. It is worth it because she gives me such intense love and doesn't steal or cause any problems....HEY! WAIT A MINUTE!!! WHAT IS THAT ON HER CHIN????" There, bold as the nose on a person's face was... lemon scone crumbs! Murphy gave me the innocent "I wouldn't do that" look, which almost worked until she burped...a lemon scone burp. That little imp had eaten my two Mother's day lemon scones! (I've got more of them of course.) She then had the guts to sit on the table and take her "after scone" bath!!! Happy Mother's Day to my fellow cat and dog Mothers. I hope you all have a wonderful day. I know Murphy did!

OMG a cat that eats lemon scones, too funny. And she only weighs 3 pounds. I have never seen that before. She just helped herself? I can't stop from laughing, that is just too much. Most cats wouldn't go near the citrusy flavour of lemon either. I think one of my cats liked fruit but it was pineapple and melon only and I would only give him a tiny bit as cat's stomach's can't take all of that stuff like us humans do.

Murphy has always been a tiny little cat. I think it was because of the previous owner and how Murphy didn't get taken care of at that house. I was totally in awe because of the fact that she ate lemon! I know that cats usually don't go for fruit, especially something acidic as lemon. Oh well, I never claimed that my cats were normal!

Well, since the roomie is the only member of the household with parents, I drove her out there to be with her mom. I also got loved on by my cats, of course they don't know Mother's Day from any other, but they do know that some days I'm home more than others and they like those days!

If you want to celebrate mothers day because you have a cat then happy mothers day to you lol :) In the morning my kids and I took presents over to my mother and visited for a short while. They were pretty bad during the first half of the day. At dinner time my mother and father had my kids and I over to have pizza with my sister and her two children. My dad gave me a few lottery tickets and I won $7 :) My mother gave me a mug.

It isn't so much celebrating Mother's day because I have cats, it is that having cats or other animals, in my thinking, are like raising children. To me when I adopt an animal it's a forever adoption. Besides the fact that my daughter, son in law, and grand daughters are living quite a distance away from me so celebrating Mother's day isn't happening. Oh, by the way, I don't dress up the cats or dogs (sorry, I think it's just plain stupid and strips the dogs and cats of their dignity.). They don't have special strollers for when we go out. They are companions and give unconditional love (and laughter too! I always manage to get the crazy critters that find the strangest things to do with their lives when they're bored.) I don't plan to be the crazy cat lady that you hear about, I just enjoy studying their behavior and having them close to me. I know that you're not putting me down about my cats and mother's day....even if you were, it would be hysterical because you are recognizing how far off plumb I really am! It's like my visiting the doctor today for the results of my EKG...I told her how relieved I was because I was sure it would be constipation like one of the other doctors said. Also when she tried to listen to my heart I got the giggles. Bill was in the room with me and shot me a look as if to say "did you put your underwear on right?" (One of the previous times I had the doctor listen to my heart Bill noticed that I had my underwear on inside out...as I explained to him it was because I had to dress in the dark. We had to leave the house at 6 a.m. and of course we just HAD to have a power outage when I was getting dressed. I dropped my panties and had to grope to find them and then struggled in the dark to put them on. Bill noticed when I leaned forward in the exam room (just seconds before the doctor came in) that they were on inside out. Of course I was embarrassed because my doctor is a very put together doctor who never has a spot on her clothes or a hair out of place. I was sure she would notice the error on my part. So of course I got the giggles. I explained later and she got a laugh out of it, and assured me that she didn't notice. But it has stayed with me all this time; and now whenever a doctor tries to listen to my heart I get the giggles. How many normal people would go through that? Congratulations on the $7! Bill gave me three (one from the dogs, one from the cats, and one from him.) So far all I won was another ticket. He also gave me a beautiful pair of earrings that have metal roses on each dangle. I got two dozen roses for Mother's day, and they will never wilt or die! They match the bracelet he got for me for Valentines Day.

No I wasent putting you down at all I thought it was really sweet and adorable that you are celebrating mothers day with your cat. I love when people are so devoted to their animals and consider them their babies. I see you dont dress them up but I do think its really cute. My cat would never put up with that but we've put pretty collars on her in the past. Thats to bad your children werent able to be there to celebrate mothers day with you and your cat. My sister told me years ago that I would wind up an old cat lady lol. She was wrong I do have a cat but I've been married and have kids and well someday when they grow up and if I'm alone and just have my cats oh well haha let her call me an old cat lady.

Wow Loverbear, with all your animals, I am surprised you'd leave any food out, even for a second.. So the one who you thought would be the most innocent was guilty huh? I guess you'll know better next time, any food is put up and away..

It's funny because usually my animals don't steal food. Abby had been the worst case, but when I flipped out at her for stealing the pork chop she gave up thieving! I am sure she figured she was going to die at the hands of an insane person. I totally lost my cool over that pork chop! We've always been lucky with our critters not normally stealing. It's only when it is something that is soooo tempting and smelling soooo good. My Mom's Rottweiler swiped her peanut butter sandwich one day. Mom had made the sandwich, set it on her tv table and went to the bathroom. While she was in the bathroom Rocky came up and ate the sandwich in two bites! I about wet myself laughing when she came back to the plate and there was no sandwich. She looked on the floor, in the book case, she even lifted the plate and looked under it like the sandwich had some how magically gone through the plate onto the table. It wasn't until Rocky came up to her and burped that she found out that he swiped the sandwich. But normally he wouldn't touch anything that we didn't tell him he could have. We would have chickens and roasts out on the counter thawing and the dogs wouldn't even sniff that direction. And they only had to lift their heads to grab the meat. The cats are the same way. That's why it's so darn funny to me.

Not my girls, they still sniff the counter and I have to yell at them..Do you remember the first incident? They were about 4-5 months old, probably half the size they are now, but I was making matzo balls for soup and though the plate wasn't at the edge, it wasn't pushed back either. I came into the living room to check the computer when I hear this crash and I went in, both girls were enjoying raw matzo balls..I suspect it was Ciara who knocked it down, she is the goat after all... So now, I push all food way back so they can't reach it and the kitchen table is absolutely off limits, but I still would never put anything near the edge; I love them, but I don't trust them...

HaHa this is to cute. I completley agree cat mums should get to have a mothers day to. I actually rang my mum to say happy mothers day and she asked me if Laylah (my tabby cat) had said happy mothers day to me, always makes me laugh.

You're right, pet parents should have their own day too. After all, we not only love them unconditionally but it is like raising a child (or in my case 7 children. I have four cats and three dogs.) I never start the day without a great laugh at one of my crazies and never sit at the computer without a cat on my lap purring contentedly. I hop that Laylah did wish you a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, or at least came up and gave you a good loving and a sweet purr. People who aren't as crazy about their furbabies think I'm crazy, but at least I am a happy crazy!

A kitty with lemon scones is just too cute!! x3 I'm currently the mother of a two year old silver-gray and black tabby called Tiny. She has bright green eyes with hints of gold in them and has a thing for plastic bags. Ever since she was little she would curl up in them and randomly lick the insides (though she never tried biting them). I do consider myself to be a 'mother' for a cat, but I've actually thought about celebrating Mother's Day as a Cat Mother. Maybe I will next year! :)

Lol! That's so a cat. I adore them. I'm a 'mommy' of Belladonna a nearly two year old tortie. And I will admit I do refer to myself as mama to her. Happy Mothers Day to All Mama's out there. :)

That's what I adore about cats! You never know what to expect from them. Dogs are a bit more predictable, though they do have their moments too. I never expected that kind of thieving from Murphy. Khuay and Willy are more apt to do that kind of thing, Dinglebeary wouldn't dream of doing something like that...but sweet, proper Murphy? Wow that is a total mind bender!
