It's very easy though not, unfortunately, very intuitive. You add an avatar in Preferences: http://www.mylot.com/nr/editcustomize.aspx and that is also the place where you add your location, choose whether others can see your age, gender and location and can select whether you want to see 'mature content' or not. Almost everything else to do with customising your Profile is done by editing your profile: http://www.mylot.com/Dekcruz
