I know what you mean. My best writing ideas ALWAYS come to me when I have no pen with me, and as I don't have a good memory, I always forget the idea(s) that I had. I also don't have a mobile phone, so am unable to record my thoughts that way.

Yep, it happens all the time. I've taken to keeping a notebook with me whenever I can and jot down ideas as they come. I don't write as much as I used to, so I notice that the event is fading somewhat as my mind gets busy with other things. The very best ideas come when driving or in the shower, where I can't get at the notebook!

First, I do like you. There is always a pen and paper in his pocket. Now I use tabulet. With tabulet I can write anytime and anywhere. Even to record tunes for my songs.

No, it doesn't happen to me, because I never leave the house without a notepad and pen or pencil. They're even dotted around the house, in case an idea strikes out of the blue - which happens very often, particularly as I'm dropping off to sleep. Even a simple phrase is enough to remind me of the idea, and sometimes, I can get several articles from one random thought or event.

Yep needless to say, there are times where I really just have some of my best ideas where I am nowhere near something to write it down. I mean nothing, but Notepad on the computer, not a standard pen and notepad, I don't even have a napkin to write it down on. That is really frustrating when some of the best ideas pop into your head at a time where you cannot really deal with them. I do think that the best thing to do is to really try and keep them fresh right in your mind. To try and think about each and every individual idea. So when you can go back to the well one more time, you can perhaps elaborate on your idea and when you have a chance to write it down. Of course there are sadly times that good ideas tend to be lost as we get side tracked by other matters. Such is the pain of a writer. Ideas come at any time which is not necessarily a good thing.

Well, this thing, or rather the same thing that happens to you, I was going up not long ago. It happened because I was out of home, and maybe my attention was focused on something, and here perhaps I could think of an idea, but I had with me neither paper nor pen to write it. Today, although I have a smartphone, where there is a special section "reminders", however, I always go out of home with a pen and small notepad. Now the ideas I do not "run away" again!
