Matt is so happy he has the handicap transport now, he calls in a day before he needs it tells them where to pick him up and where to take him and there is no limit to how many places he can go. It is a wonderful service once you can get it, but it is so hard to get. what services are you using that you like or dislike and why?

Hello winterose. Where I live here in Michigan I have to make an appointment two weeks ahead of the need for the transportation both ways.and it costs two dollars each way. When I first called for a ride they said that they are that busy. There is also a senior citizen transport that cost $1.50 each way and you can call the day before you need the ride. This is great for those of us that don't have cars and don't drive any more. I haven't been able to use either one yet but looking forward to it.

It is great because I don;t have to try to walk or get to a bus stop. I have a walker I have to use and others are wheel chair bound. This is the best part.

It's a good thing, my friend that there in the US they have those kind of services for the handicaps. Here in the Philippines, there aren't any. Though on trains they have special seats reserved for them. But that kind of transport service, we don't have that.

Oh i'm sorry , it slipped my mind that you are indeed from Canada, because i have seen it in your profile when you requested me as your friend. At any rate, it is said that the health benefits in Canada is better than in US.I wonder if they have that transport service for the handicaps in the US too? My friend who migrated to Canada had a slip disk. She was on leave with pay for one year! Imagine that ! Wow!

That's great! There is a lady who lives below me who uses that. It's nice to see she can get around when she needs to. She's on oxygen and in a wheelchair.

Special transit in Austin is a PITA! You have to call 3 days before and they will set you up pretty much on their idea of a schedule - say, your doctor's appointment is at 2, they pick you up at 12 and want to pick you up from the doctor's office at 2:10...

that is totally crazy, ours seems to be more organized than that. sometimes they are late though picking you up if they have a lot of people wanting lifts and not enough drivers
