I have minor cardiac problem. I asked my doctor why do I and others urinate so much at night time. Answer from my doctor : Gravity holds water in the lower part of body when you are upright. When you lie down, the lower body (legs and other things) seeks levels with the kidneys, it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier.
My doctor said : you need a minimum amount of water to help flush the toxins out of your body. Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body :(a)glasses of water after waking up helps activate internal organs, (b) glass of water 30 minutes before a meal helps digestion, (c) glass of water before taking a bath helps lower blood pressure, (d) glass of water before going to bed avoids stroke or heart attack.
My Physician told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp.

i agree with you ryanong. Now that it's very hot in our country ( average of 37 degrees ) I drink water more often. My parents as well finds it hard to sleep when they drink water before sleeping because they needed to go to the toilet a lot of times at night.
Anyway, for a healthier heart I have a great experience with Cayenne capsules sold in natural health stores like GNC, and they really are very effective in making the heart stronger and even treating a lot of heart problems.

Oh those leg cramps.. thanks for that tip. I drink a lot of water..and lose equal amount -..mostly through sweat, so I am a person who sweats excessively. This is the first year after several years that I did not sweat as much. And was I relieved! But cramps..I suffer a lot. :( Cardiac problem..?

I didn't realize that drinking water at certain times could help in different types of situations. But after reading all your doctor's explanations, i can only say it speaks a lot of sense.
Anyway wongchoiyee's 10-12 glasses of water a day is a good way to start.

Water is very essential to our body and i used to drink a lot of water at all the time. It doesn't matter whether i an not thirsty but still i used to drink them a lot. Water never become excess to our body and if they are in excess they will be excrected.

I am going to start doing this. I already go to the bathroom, many times, during the night but, OH, what the heck. What is one more trip?!

Nice sharing..
Thanks for your info.
Only (c) that I have not done.
For (b) not enough glass and not 30 minutes earlier. lol
I think, I still do not consume enough water, because I still have cramps.

I'm all for drinking a lot of water regularly each day however your doctor's idea about gravity just made me laugh. That isn't true! Unless of course you have a very serious medical condition and you look like a jelly!
But if it helps to convince patients to drink more water, I guess the doctor can be forgiven for that little lie!

I always take my water before bed and I did it without knowing the use of it, simply because I just feel thirsty when I'm sleepy. Even if it makes me wake in the middle of the night to reach the closet, it's better for me than having dry throat. Good to know the fact. Thanks for sharing .

Well all of these definately make sense! That is very interesting about the glass of water before bed though because I think you would run into more of a problem of having to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

Hello bhanusb, I am sorry to hear about the minor cardiac problem, and I am happy that you are now seem okay. Thank you for this information. I, myself is an avid water drinker. I drink 12 to 18 glasses a day especially now that it is summer time here in our country. However, I am not really aware of its corresponding advantages and your post shed light to me. This is very helpful. Have a great day to you bhanusb

i always drink lots of water that makes me keeps on urinating. But I'm not really sure if it is also one of the causes why i don't have sense of smell and hard to breath sometimes. I'm also scared going to the doctor for check-ups.
