Today I realised why I quit watching game shows

Ive taken back up doing my native american bead work. Instead of getting on here early, I decided to do the beadwork in the morning as the sun is lots better light for colors and those tiny beads etc. Anyway, I decided to turn on the tv to listen to to keep me from being bored. Lets make a deal came on and I just left it play. looking up every now and then to see what they won. as time went on, I realised why I quit watching these. Its like watching others get these fabulous prizes you cant have or probably never afford Just left me sad and envious. Guess I wont listen to that any more Do you watch these shows and just wish it could be you? how does that make you feel?

The things I want they do not give away as prizes so I am okay with it. I just find them awfully silly. I guess I would be happy to have the cash prizes though.

I would love to win a car, but I couldn't afford the taxes on it probably.

i want a lot of things on there. guess thats the problem. i also hate it when they loose a great prize.you would have to borrow money to sell the car then for the taxes, then keep the rest. sad. you would still just have the left over money and not the car

Stop watching all those things a long time ago, I don't even see them as real, and back in the days when I watch them, I just smile because to me, almost everything on Tv is acting and they are so fake, we have got very few real things showing up on Tv, that's the news section...lol

yes but i prefer watching something (or listening to) more upbeat then news. news is another thing that usually upsets me.

Sure, I knew I was not the only one getting upset from the negative feedback we see from the news accross the globe everyday.Even as much as I hate their reports sometimes, especially the stories of war and inhumanity, I can't help but listen to get updated and be current about the happenings in my world

That beadwork sounds like fun. I am not one to watch gameshows either. When I do I usually consider the taxes the winners have to pay on the stuff. Even though it is nothing in comparison to what the actual prize costs..some people may not be prepared to pay the taxes on a grand prize item.

yes thats another problem they or you would have. either have to borrow the money or sell it right away for taxes.

When I was younger I used to want to be on a game show so that just maybe I might have the opportunity to win a prize like the contestants were winning on the shows. However, I now know that is nothing but a pipe dream. I don't watch game shows either because I know that the actual odds of having the opportunity to win the prizes is something that will never happen for me. I will admit, however, that I do like to turn on Jeopardy or something like that occasionally just to test my knowledge.

I'm kind of the opposite. I see people win those prizes and I'm like, oh wow, they'd probably never get that without this game show. And if they win something like a washer and dryer I think, great, that's one more thing they won't have to pay for. Especially if you hear they are a college kid just moving into their own place. And if they already have it, they can sell it to make money. But sometimes the game shows make me nervous. I usually only get envious if they are giving away something like a gift card, or something that I need, like a mattress. THEN I get jealous! lol

i guess a better name for it is jealousy on my part. i said envious. but maybe its the same thing.

i really find shows like that and soap operas sort of a waste of time. i would rather spend time on mylot, making money than watching that stuff. however, for noise in the background when i am crafting, i put on the radio.

Because of my deep depression I have had to be very careful in screening what I watch because I do get to feeling very blue and useless and yes, envious. I don't like the feeling and how it starts me down the dark path to the BLACK HOLE of deep depression. I freak when I get that feeling and move away from whatever I am doing that makes me feel that way. We do have power over our minds. I try to use that power where I can.

Hi bunny, I'm not interested to play game on TV. Sometimes I watch cricket or football matches on TV. Yes bead work is much better than watching TV. At least it develops your skill of sewing. But you must do some physical work. Otherwise you will be again bored.

Aww yes i know what you mean bunny, you'll end up getting envious of these people! Sometimes there are shows here that lets you win 1 million pesos and sometimes gives houses and cars and the likes. nothing is really fair.

i dont mind them winning them. i just dont see the point of watching them win or loose. it doesnt teach me anything, and dont keep me laughing either. so wheres the entertainment? i just feel a bit bummed that im not winning any thing there

I really don't thing that way. As its just a tv shows nothing more nothing less. I also sometimes want to join or hope that its me that is in their but not because I want the winnings but its because I know the answer of that questions.

I enjoyed it when I was a teen but after college, I don't have time anymore to watch these game shows. I always think what if I won the million dollar question.. What would I do with my winnings.. If its a house should I rent it out or sell it for extra cash.. I guess I like day dreaming when I was younger but now I think more of work and play outside. I haven't watch TV for awhile now.

Hi there bunnybon, Well i don't watch that much TV anymore since i have to work a lot of times and if i do have the time i just try to read or review since i am planning on taking on some exams for abroad so that i can work abroad, i really wish i can watch more TV but my time will not allow it nor my need for more cash, i just try to work and if i do have leisure time i wont waste it on TV I'll just visit my mom or my sister or my wife to be and bring her great food.

I figured that stuff out a LONG time ago - I kind of like those Wheel of Fortune because of the words and Jeopardy because of the knowledge, but on the whole, I hated the lot of them. I hate the judge shows and the "Dr Phil" type stuff because of all the people screaming at each other, I hate arguments, they make my stomach hurt - I don't see that stuff as "entertainment". And I hate soaps because they are just people behaving badly, I have enough of that in real life, I don't need to WATCH it. Fact is, most daytime TV is not worth my time!

Oh yes.. i feel that way sometimes too. That is why i only watch game shows that have trivia questions so i am focused more on the questions than the money. I feel envious of the people that get all the prizes in a noon time show though.. they really give a lot- they pick the winner by text.

I haven't watched that show in years, but I remember back in high-school it used to come on during our study hall and the monitor would watch it daily. I remember everyone trying to guess what the items would cost, and I agree a lot of them were things I didn't have the money for and sure couldn't just go out to the store and buy but there were always a lot of nice stuff on the show. I have never been to big on game shows. I watch Family Feud occasionally because I love watching them do fast money.

We watch The Price is Right... that's about the only game show we watch. I like watching it.. I get excited for the people and I feel like I share in their blessings. No, I'll never afford any of those things, but I'm content with my life the way it is. Could it be better? Sure, but since it probably won't get a lot better, it's my life and I'm happy with it. I get depressed sometimes, but it's not over money.. it's usually due to loneliness.
