and join a very good college for M.B.B.S . , and study staying in the college hostel. But I just came to know the hostel is just horrible. In a room, there are about 4-5 people and it's very congested, food not good. I mean, I don't expect luxury, like home. I'll adjust food, sleeping, bathroom, but not studying.. it'll be crowded!! I don't , I can't study even when somebody else is sitting in my room. I wish I wasn't like that. Life is going to be very tough from now. I'm presently confused. about what to do. 'cause I do have a choice...

Being an Indian, you must know that hostel accommodation in government run MBBS colleges is more or less the same all over the country. It is crowded but all the renowned doctors of the country are the products of such colleges with overcrowded not only hostels but also the class rooms and wards. So I would suggest if you are really interested in doing a M.B.B.S course, you would not mind these minor problems. Remember that others will have to face the same study conditions in the hostel and you will definitely find many students who are very sincere in studies and they will make an environment which will be very much favourable for your studies and and will not get this favourable environment if you rent a house or any other accommodation for yourself. All the medical students prefer hostel accommodation, even those who live in the same city, to get the favourable environment for studies and to get help from other studenst, be it of the same class or seniors.

My actual name is obviously not DoctorDidi, it is the user name for mylot. Yes, I am a doctor but homeopathic. My husband is an alloapthic doctor. I do not know which state you belong to. But I would suggest you to give importance primarily to the teaching faculty and the acadaemic environment in the college and not on the hostel facilities only, though it is obviously a part of it. I think as the government medical colleges are old with a reputation in the field of medical education, it will give you a good start after you begin your career. So, you should consider all the pros and cons before coming to a final conclusion about your admission to any college, though it is true that everything is not in your hand as your result for the entrance examination has a vital role to play her. Whatever it may be, it would be wise to 'look before you leap'.

Actually the result is announced. I'm a keralite. Hey I do know your real name is not DoctorDidi. . I have written the kerala entrance examination and got 135th rank. So I'll get a seat in the best medical college in the state, the calicut medical college. The college is really great but the hostel, the worst, I have heard.

I have inquired with my friend about different medical colleges,, who is also studying in a government medical college. As his is a new college, there are better facilities in the hostel but in old and reputed colleges, hostels are all the same. I'm very happy to read your response.. I feel better. So, your name is DoctorDidi Are you a doctor??

You still have 3 months to go, maybe you can look for another place where you can have more privacy than sharing one room with 4-5 persons. I use to stay in a dormitory when I am studying before- but only share the room with one person. I don't like crowded room too. I do not feel comfortable and cannot study well with too much people around.

I can't expect luxury, as to become a doctor is to be of service. But I still have time.

It seems that you are going to live in a no better, no worse state as the rest of the students. It is a problem if you cannot study with someone in your room. This is a luxury very few people have. But maybe you can find a place like the library or outside to study. And if you have lived so well at your parent´s house as it seems, probably they will give you an allowance to buy extras for more and better food. Luck!!!

Don't worry, you should be thinking in a positive way and just relax. I know, all the people have been saying that M.B.B.S is difficult and now when you don't like studying with those many people around, it will be surely difficult for you to manage. But right now I guess you didn't join the hostel. And who knows, might be after you join the hostel, you will find really good friends out there and might find it fun to study with them. Or even if you don't you may surely find some other place to study peacefully. You should actually avoid such kind of stress, I mean you should avoid thinking too much about these minor things because you have opted for M.B.B.S and that itself is such a big thing. And life is surely going to be tough for everybody in the start but after that obviously we all will end up being happy, right! So, just stay calm! I am sure you will have a great time. Have a bright future ! :)

You have 3 months to look for a different alternative that may suit you better. If you have not found it in 3 months, then you just have to make the most of your situation. If it's really intolerable, you should keep looking for a better place. All the best.

I bet somewhere on or around campus you can find a quiet private place to study without interuption, either that or invest in some noise canceling head phones so that you cannot hear your roommates. You are going to school so that you can learn, please always remember that! What everyone around you does, how they may bother you or whatever is not really any of your concern, and you can't let it get to you. Just be strong, breathe deep and smile because you got into this good school. Good luck!

Well I know, I know that. But it's just so easy to say that to myself, like 'don't worry too much' but when it comes to real life things don't work like that. I will pray, I want to be strong.

If you have alternative like renting houses you can do. But you will miss the enjoyment by being in hostel. You would be in discomfort for some days earlier but you will accustomed later there with friends and environment. It will be like another world which is fun most times.
