Malaysia will claim Tor-tor dance and Gondang Sambilan as their national heritage soon. As we know, Tor-tor dance is originally from North Sumatra and Gondang Sambilan is from Mandailing. What do you thing about this issue? Who should be blamed? Our government or Malaysia?

Both Government should be blamed, I think. Indonesia Government has so many pending things to be settled in order to protect Indonesian Ancient heritage which has to be registered with the International Offices of Heritage. Malaysia Government also has to be blamed for their naive actions to claim Indonesian dances as their heritage. At least we should be aware that many of Indonesian ancient heritage must be claimed and registered with the International bodies so no other countries may claim for our ancient heritage.

It could be happen because: 1. There isn't a copyright for it, so they start to search thing that could be claimed.(You know "TEMPE", Javanese food.) 2. All thing have been set to kamuflace something, so that Lapindo, Century could save until 2014.

Absolutely, our government is the one who have to be blamed for this. They should protect, preserve, and develop our nation's culture at all cost. Instead, they seem ignoring that. Stop blaming Malaysia, they're just picking up what have been "thrown" away.

It is unfortunate, this should happen again. I really hope the government can take action on this incident. I also really hope that this issue can be resolved properly, without any hostility. Because, we are neighboring countries.

The source of many cultural or traditional items are often disputed between the two countries. I suppose it is because of the proximity and cultural similarities of Indonesia and Malaysia. They share the same roots of language, and perhaps there are also traditional dances or songs which originated from the same sources.
