Negative feedback

Recently I joined an online groceries shop that gives a code to every costumer. If you give that code to other people they get 5 dollar discount on their first purchase. The thing is that with my last order, they gave me 18 samples of stevia (a sweetener) to give to friends and acquitances along with the code. I decided to put some on ebay at 1 pence each (I would give them away but that's the minimum price). As the code is included with the sample, I explained that if they like the product they can buy the big one on the website, that the big box includes 35 sachets and etc. The thing is that many people bid on it and the final price was 20 pence, so I sent two more samples to the winner. Today she sent me a mail complaining that she only received 3 samples instead of 35 as she expected. I explained the bid, as stated in the title was only one sample, and the other information was from the corresponding product that they can buy with the discount. She hasn't replied yet, but I am scared she leaves me negative feedback... I really didn't want to fool anyone so I refunded her money, after all it's just 20 pence...

Next time just give them away. LOL. I admire your ambition, but why risk your standing with EBay on a product that wouldnt make you that much money.

Well I was not trying to make money with that, 1 pence is the minimum amount, that is practically giving them away. I had to pay the shipping costs so I lost money on it. The idea was to give the code to people so they can order on this website if they want. Ebay uk has a section for vouchers and this kind of stuff. Anyway I think I don't deserve a negative, it is not like I was trying to scam her or something, I will try to sort it out with this woman. I am just worried because there's a lot of unreasonable people out there.

The point is you didn't give them away. Regardless of that fact though, I doubt the woman will be so spiteful if you refunded the money.

I have that problem a lot where people dont read the description. The problem is especially true with international buyers who are shopping in a languiage that is not their primary one. For example, I sell skateboard bushings, and I state very clearly with exclamation points and bold letters that each unit is enough to do 1 truck, and if you want to do the entire skateboard you will need to order two. I do this because some people only want one because they only have one damaged, or they like to set up different types in front and back so they don't want two sets at a time. Incidentally this is also how the manufacturer sells them for this very reason. Yet somehow about every 8th set I sell the person will comnplain that they only got enough for one truck and they were expecting to do their entire board.

The only advice I imagine would be to make a listing very, very clear. At the same time, it sounds like you did that; as you said you put it in the title. But you must have stated 35 somewhere in the description or something, because that is what stuck in this person's head. Well, if you already refunded it and it's over and done with anyway, I guess you can do nothing but learn from this and do something else.

You shouldn't have done that. If it was clearly listed, then she is at fault, and you are in the right. You should not give up your money because the person made a mistake. There is nothing she can do about it.
