The Scariest Urban Legend In My Opinion

One of the scariest Urban Legends in my opinion is the one to do with the babysitter. There are several circulating around, I am sure the world, but I'll tell you the one to which I refer. Before I begin though, mommas and poppas might want to be warned it has something to do with chidlren, though no harm is actually said had happened (that I remember). In any case a babysitter was sitting while the parents were out enjoying the night. She goes up to the room to check on the children and finds a clown doll, going downstairs she calls and asks the father if he minded that she removed the doll from the children's room as it was creeping her out. He replies that they do not own a clown doll and to get the children and get out as he was calling the cops. Actually, I think I read in one of the variations that the "clown" was a man having escaped from prison, he was a pedophile and killer. That urban legend has kept me up at night and I don't even have children yet. I can tell the story now as it's not night, but if I were to have written this at night I'd not have been able to sleep. Have you heard of this one or a variation of this one?

I have heard about that urban legend before. Someone even made a video about that urban legend and posted it on YouTube. I liked the video, but it scared me. I especially remember the moment when the babysitter talks to the mother on the phone and asks her about the clown doll. The mother says: "What clown doll? We don't have a clown doll" and then the babysitter drops the phone, because she suddenly understands that "the doll" is a real person That is really scary to think about, she has actually seen clown several times, but she didn't know that it was a real person. I think I would freak out, it is such a scary thought to find a stranger in a house where you thought that you were safe.

Honestly, unless it was a home I was very comfortable with because I knew the people very well, I'd be scared just being in the house. To me, if this were to ever happen my first reaction would be to get out. Of course if I was sitting with my own children or with a family member's kids I'd grab them if I could and high tail it out of there, screaming the entire time. I don't think I could watch the video myself, I'd be too afraid to.

Hello SomeCowgirl I have never heard this urban legend. Is the clown doll a full size/adult size doll?

I am thinking it must be, though I don't remember what the variation I read said exactly. It sort of reminds me of one of the scary movie parodies that has a clown doll that watches you in it. If I remember correctly in the urban legend the girl though the doll looked creepy, as if it was looking at her.

Yes, now that you bring it up, I recall one of the Scary Movie parodies of that. It would be incredibly creepy. Plus, just the fact that it's a clown would be creepy, as in the legend, the babysitter was creeped out by a clown without knowing its nefarious intent.

I don't necessarily have a fear of clowns, but I can't watch the movie IT let's just say that. Most clowns have an evil look about them anyway, just by the way the makeup is done.

Nope, how freaky. Only urban legend I can recall off the top of my head it the one about the person who supposedly tried to dry off their dog in the microwave.

sad thing is, some idiot has done that before. Either before or after the urban legend, you know it's had to have been done for it to even come into existence as a thought.

I think I've heard it as a cat before.

I have probably heard a variation of this legend. The one I remember from my area is the one about Hatchett Man. In our area there is an old building on the edge of town that used to be a mental hospital. It is said that a crazy young man escaped and lived in a cave in the foothills nearby the hospital. With a hatchett he would kill people of the town. I remember us kids would drive up there and freak ourselves out. There is a cave there.

I think there's a lot of stories going around pertaining to a mental ward and an escapee. I think I've heard of one in our state, not really near me though. I'm sure I'd be freaked out just living near where the mental ward and cave was, but I bet it was a great scare.

I recently read a story I had read before of a escaped mental patient (or was it convict?) in any case the urban legend goes that two lovebirds were up at a "make out" point and they heard it on the radio. The lady asked to be taken home and when the gentleman went around to open her door after arriving at her doorstep he froze because on the door handle was a hook, the same thing described in the broadcast as being part of the mental patient.

I have never heard of this urban legend. I don't really like clowns. They are kind of creepy to me.

Yeah, I am definitely not a fan of them either. I can't say I am really afraid of them, but let's just say I won't watch the movie "IT".

What happens to the child!!Did he kill him? Some dolls are creepy, they bring bad luck to the owner. Some dolls which looks brand new, will just lie in the roadside,if you take it with you to your home,it will initiate a chain of bad incidents. Finally it will take your place and your soul will be locked inside that doll. Then you will be thrown to the roadside and you will wait there for your taker, and the process continues. So DON'T bring any roadside dolls to your home. Some variation of this story involves an evil looking toy shopkeeper, who sells these kind of kinds of dolls. The doll turns all of your family members dolls,at the seventh day the shopkeeper will come to your home, and takes all the dolls with him, back to his shop. This way he makes huge profit.

I think there are different variations of what happened in the urban legend with the clown, so I guess it's up to you what you want to think happened. I've heard of the urban legend you've told about, it's very very creepy. I don't know that I'd ever heard of the shop keeper's variation though.

I like happy endings,so I think, children were found in another room and they were ok. She got out of the house with children.Cops arrive at the scene and the evil clown was arrested, and he lived happily ever after behind bars.

Yes, I have heard of ones like these, and a lot of times they could be taken right from a Scary movie of some sort, and then wrote for people to actually believe. But personally things like this are Wrote from time to time to make people think, and that is why when especially online we need to not always believe everything we read or see.

Uh oh. I've heard something similar, but it does not concern babysitter. Apparently a model ask her friend to remove a clown puppet because it creeps her out, but the friend said they don't own any. Uh. Oh.
