I didn't see this one coming. I'm not sure what to make out of it at this point. It will definitely help the Lakers. I imagine they are not yet done revamping their team so it'll be interesting to see what comes of this. Do you think that this will put them back in a position to win another title?

Of course. They have search long and hard for the perfect point guard and it's not only a point guard, he was a two MVP. At least they have found a good one in Steve Nash. I am sure if he can cope up with the other younger athletic point guards. Nash can be potentially matched up against Westbrook, Parker, Chalmers, Rose, and Rondo to name a few. He needs to learn how to play with Kobe. Is Kobe going to have most of the isolation plays? Or will they concentrate more on pick and roll plays with Bynum or Gasol? 1 person likes this

I don't think it will take Nash long to learn the best time to put the ball in Kobe's hands. He has made a career of making other players around him better. I don't see any reason that this will be any different. If Gasol stays around I can see this as being a big benefit for him as well.

I think will Nash will defer to Kobe in the name of peace. Fisher used to fill an important role in Kobe's game. I expect Nash can do that and more. Interesting point though. A lot of the league's top point guards would butt heads with Kobe. With Nash I just don't expect it to be a problem.

But who do you think is the leader of the team now? Kobe or Nash?

I have not heard of this until now and I am honestly surprised as well. It sounds good but I still wonder how big a help this will be for the team. I know they need big guys and a good center but I have high hopes nonetheless with another star working for the team. I am a Lakers fan, but more importantly, I am a Kobe fan.

Big surprise. I didn't know the Lakers organization was even interested. He definitely improves them at point guard. I don't think Kobe will be doing any complaining about this. I'm really not sure if this puts them back into the hunt for another championship or not. Depends on what else happens before the season begins.

Koopharper, I must say no one expected this trade to happen but am glad for the Lakers and Nash himself because this gives him a chance to finally get a championship ring and for the Lakers they needed an experience hand to replace Derrick Fisher, who despite having to always play limited minutes on the floor contributes a lot and Ramon Sessions was a good replacement but lacked that confidence to always have good contribution as a guard, so this is where I know Nash would be a good add to the team and he is a good guard and team player but has being unlucky being stuck with Phoenix Suns.
Choybel, yeas I would confirm that at this point Lakers need a center, a big one to muscle his way through other teams center and play a good role to leading the team to another championship. Although Bynum has that size but plays like his playing NCAA games and Gasol didn't play so much time as a center this past season because of coach Mike Brown who to me is not the right coach for Lakers. Gasol despite his lack of muscles in his days as center contributed more to the team than Bynum and also won the championship with Lakers.

If this is true, am extremely happy. A combination of Nash,Kobe and Gasol will definitely produce fire on the court. Obviously Lakers is my favourite team in NBA and I am very disappointe dwith the team's performance. With Nash coming to the squad I think Lakers can regain their regime and can do some splenddid performance in the next season

Their performance during 2011/12 season was not on par, Almighty last fell to Oklahoma Thunders 4-1 in their playoffs I was so furious and saw the tenacity and exuberance that the young stars of Thunder possessed and Mike Brown, the coach of Lakers had no answer to stopping them, I'm so much dissapointed in the rest of the team except Kobe, who alwats tried to revive the team during such games.

Their performance during this year's playoffs were definitely a disappointment for Lakers fans. I'm not sure adding Nash gives them the edge on the Thunder but we will see. It should make for an interesting season.

I believe it's a great move for the Lakers, I'd like Ramon Sessions to comeback as a back up but at the moment it seems like Nash will be backed up by Steve Blake. I feel Steve Nash still has a lot to offer the Lakers as an elite Point Guard.

Hard to argue with picking up a free agent like Nash. I don't see any real downside to this move for the Lakers.

I never thought there a lot of Basketball fans here on Mylot but it is a good thing that we all have to contribute our different views on the sport here.
For me Steve Nash is a veteran at what he does, he has excellent pick and roll technique and usually good at making 3 pointers and being a free agent, Lakers did make the right choice of taking him of out the hell hole he previously play at.
He still has a lot to offer to the team and the sports so I think Nash all the to a new championship title for Lakers. Sessions and Blake can play as back up for him.

There is no doubt he brings a lot of qualities to the table that the Lakers need. It'd be nice for him to get a championship ring. It might not happen though. I'm looking forward to the coming season. Should be interesting.

I'm not a Lakers fan by any means, but I think acquiring Steve Nash is a big plus for them. Nash going to the Lakers doesn't really surprise me all that much. I know that he wants a ring, and in my opinion he definitely deserves one. I like Steve Nash, but I wish that he could have went somewhere besides Los Angeles. This does help them out a lot though.

Thank God that even non Lakers fan accept that Nash coming to LA is a great plus and understand the fact that he needs a ring badly and sees that the team he could get it with would be LA.
Perfectboy, would you like to share what team you are a fan of with us here, we would be glad to know.

@shynepapain101, Yes I definitely think Nash deserves a ring. He has easily been one of the best point guards of the 2000 era, and I always enjoy watching him play. I'm a fan of the Spurs mainly, but I also like the Bulls and the Rockets.

I was surprised because I didn't think the Lakers were making a bid for him. The Knicks were trying real hard and I think he was wise to stay out of that one. He wants a shot at a ring. Lakers will give him a shot but it is by no means a slam dunk. They have to get through the Thunder who I think are the real deal. They will be contenders for awhile.
