As you all know I can't take the heat and I am diabetic. I hate to get blood tests done. I had to fast for 14 hours first so I am have putting it off because as a diabetic my doctor told me it is not good to go without eating that I could go into a diabetic coma. But I have to have this test regardless I was afraid of fasting because going that long without eating or drinking anything but water makes me weak. Then there is the heat, and I have to walk there and back. So Thursday I went and got it done. I also had an X ray on my left side done at the same time.

I can't take the heat either. It is getting bad here. Dry and humid as well as hot. I hope that after all your worry and trouble that the blood tests were done right and came out okay. What's wrong with your left side? Going that long without eating or drinking in this heat could be lethal. I am so glad it is behind you now. ANd having to walk to and from. If I had been there I could have driven you. Glad it is all done.

my left side hurts me more than my right side, so the doctor just wanted to have it checked out. I know it is fibro but I decided to make her happy. Or it could be kidney damage because of the diabetes.

I know sometimes our health needs make it hard to do the things we need to for monitoring other conditions. I am glad that you got it done and that you are able to be here and post today.

That would really a problem rose because complication of diabetes is very alarming and in your case you must be careful. Have you told your doctor about this and ask some alternatives? Mobhomeir here 071112 1305hrs

Oh yes I remembered, we were also required to take that test and we were advised not to eat for several hours before the test. Well, anyway it's good to know that it was over. Also I hope everything will be fine.

everything will be high, I have to have the tests every three months. Because of my diabetes and high cholesterol, thyroid problems, and high cholesterol.

hi winterose I was just wondering we both have diabetes and thyroid problems you suppose thyroid goes with diabetes? at least I do not have cholesterol and I guess its because I cut way down almost out all bad fats and just use a little of the good fats. but I also have go in for test every three months.. I have a problem here in that I cannot control my diet much as they do not make special diets for diabetics so I just leave oujt anything that I know will make me go high.

Glad to hear that you had your blood tests done, winterose, and that you didn't experience any adverse affects from fasting for so long. I was told I needed some dire medical tests done about three years ago. Unfortunately, I haven't had the money to have it done. But at least I'm still here. Peace

I hope you can one day get the test done. It is important. I am fortunate to live in Canada and we don't have to pay for tests.

I hope so, too, winterose. I had to see a doctor once when I was in Canada. He seemed amused that I was from the USA. He and I chatted about my condition for a while and I suggested what medicine I thought I needed. We talked about that for awhile then he agreed witih me and said that would be $100.00. I paid him in cash and he put it in his pocket with a smile. He never took my blood pressure, listened to my heart, or anything. It was a strange experience for me.

hi winterose good for you you got your tests done.I am in a quandaru too as I am also diabetic and I just had the one test to get done but not having money was my big hangup as the tests my insurance pays f or but I have t o take access bus at five dollars and forty cents round trip and ha ve put it off so lo ng that now the day after tomorrow I have my doctors appt for a diabetic check u p. I think i had best be honest and admit I havent got the one test done and ask for the whole panel of tests and get them done next week, money wise I can do that. what I do for the panel is get a really early morning appt so I only have to fast from midnight to like 7 or 8 am then I do not go low. also winter take some sort of quick sugar source with you that if you feel shaky after the blood work you can pop lifesavers or another candy into your mouth til you get home and check your blood sugar level. I know what you mean as I dread it too but I find if you can get early app t for blood work it does work out better.I have to take access bus for five dollars and forty cents a trip as nothing is close enough here to walk.

I got it done, I had to fast for 14 hours for this test. Fasting from midnight wouldn't have been a big issue for me. But I got it done that is the main things. Yes hon, if you have the money get everything done now, it is so important.
