I need to find more inspiring music.

I normally write poetry when I listen to music. A good song can inspire me very quickly and I can crank out poetry in an instant, but Ive been listening to the same music for years and I'm finding myself uninspired. I normally listen to a lot of pop songs, rock, R&B, a little country. What music inspires you the most lately, and why? When you listen to music what is it about the music that you like? Are you a lyrics person, or is it about the beat, or does the song bring a certain memory to you. I really need some inspiration quick, because my muse is not speaking to me today.

The first thing I notice when I listen to a song is the beat. Then I would figure out the lyric. If the lyric means something to me then this song would absolutely enter my list. Lately I am crazy about "Empire State of Mind (Part II)" by Alicia Keys. I think this song really worships New York. I don't know, I just feel like the lyric is very strong, full of confident, full of passion, full of love to the city.

I hold a grudge against New York, cause they kept my Philly's from winning a second World Series. That song was always playing so I grew to hate it.

Space oddity has inspired me to create a song called 'Major Tom' of which carries on from Space oddity, of which Major Tom talks about how he returns to earth and becomes obsessed with space and decides to leave everyone forever and live on the moon XD

Sounds like an interesting song. Did you ever record it?

what about listening to a whole different genre? what about country or classical? or even jazz? those genres should evoke some different feelings. i typically write non fiction when i write and for me, inspiration comes from stuff i read or stuff i am really into like frugal living, saving money, that sort of thing. right now, i am in the arts and crafts mode. i am thinking about making books for Christmas this year.

Jazz is the one genre I can't stand. Classical might work, but I'm not too familiar with the composers.

"Heal the World" by Michael Jackson is my kind of song because it is our responsibility to make our world a better place not only for us, our family but for the future generation. Another is "Black or White" is a fast song but it opens my eyes that whatever our color, we have only one world to take care Thanks

I am a person who loves love and mellow song, I also love pop and rnb but I think your finding it a little boring in the past few days. Well, all the three things you've wrote are my reasons why I like it. It's lyrics, the beat, and the way it was retained in my mind. I would like to suggest you this song that you might like: Forevermore by Side A By Chance by JRA Rolling in the deep by Adele My Valentine by Martina Mcbride There are a lot of other songs that may inspire you. Good luck on your poetry writing though! :D

Well two of those songs I've never heard of, so I might give those a try. Adelle is good, but I've played her music so much I'm sick of it. Hopefully I'll get some good inspiration from the first two songs.
