Steven Tyler just left American Idol

He just used the contest to revitalize his career most likely, he is back with his band. Fox the Tv network that airs Idol officially announced it. The producers wanted to reboot the show I think because of falling ratings and predictability. I dont know but a WGWG may win again even if they try to change judges, I am not sure if having a fresh panel of judges will revitalize this show or not.

I will certainly miss him on AI. I just hate the fact that they are all not coming back, I mean the three judges. According to some reports, the three will not be returning on American Idol including resident judge, Randy Jackson. It is so sad for me not to see them back on the show. I love American Idol despite of its rating issues. It is just so weird that they gave up after 2 years (Jlo and Tyler) and is so much surprising to see that Randy might be not returning too. I am so intrigued... is it because of the money? or they are just sick of the same thing every year?

Yes and the judges don't have the final say..it's the public.

I guess they've run our of things to say to each and every contestant.

they were blamed for the ratings problem though the ratings problem of this show is blamed for having 5 White guys with guitars as winners in a row. It basically turned off a part of the audience and make them move to The voice or x-factor,

last I heard it was Jlo whose leaving, now it's steven, so that means only one judge is left and that's randy. if steven only use AI as a means to revitalize his career i don't know, last I heard him sing it lacked that aerosmith feel and his voice is not as great as it used to be. but that just my opinion.

No, Steven was still great as they knew him, but probably you're right not the best. but i think he also left because of the frustration of not seeing those really talented win much like Jessica Sanchez. i still remember him having an expression of disappointment when Phillip made to top 2 and same thing to finale..it proves that even his judging didn't help the talented ones.

I guess it's about time for AI to get a rest. it's been on yearly for years and with all the singing contest going which is basically an AI rip off with improvements, people are no longer excited about the show. Add to the fact that most of AI's winners only manage a one hit wonder before going into oblivion. And of course the disappointing fact, that the real good singers don't make it to the top.

Haven't been following this show for a long time now but I do know about the changes in judges. This doesn't actually sound surprising to me at all. I never thought that he would be a good judge anyway. i just think that there are artist/performers who are good or probably best at what they do and not at other things, and I hear judging is not one for Steven. It actually seems like the best move for him, move out while he is still good, as people would probably start not liking him sooner, as I hear more and more negative feedback of him. A fresh panel could bring the show back on track but I think the members must be extremely popular and maybe controversial as this will stir curiosity and a lot of attention. One other thing they must make sure is bringing back a "Simon Cowell" in the group. Many people hated him but that's probably why they loved the show.

I want a judge who gets bored with mediocre performances so contestants will step up their game. They also kinda need to have the ugliest male cast ever, so the 5 years in a row curse will break,.

Hello CaptainAlbert, I think Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler should leave, they weren't really being good at critizing the singers. they always have a wrong timing when it comes to judging some one, i have watch other's sing besides Jessica and found out how bias it can be, most specially for Joshua. Randy should stay i think, am not sure if any one can critize the way he did. .

I think they should just change the voting system 1 vote per house hold, then make itunes sales as basis for elimination. Its about time for Idol to create an Allstar season. It will bring back the ones who quit watching idol.

I had not yet heard this. I have been hearing rumors that there were going to be changes regarding all three judges. I think that AI is looking for younger judges to appeal to a younger audience. I liked Steven as a judge. I think that AI helped his career restart and I also think that it helped Jennifer's career restart. It may be that the show has just run its course. Everything comes to an end and maybe AI is at the end of the road.

Not sure about bringing back the contestants from previous seasons would gain fans, most of these people have moved on. probably called them up one by one and see if they can still participate. besides, every year there are thousands and thousands who auditioned so i think it would likely be unfair

allstars is fair if there are no new contestants. its for nostalgia purposes.

I was thinking making an allstar season will revitalize the show cos thats what other reality shows did to gain back the fans who abandon them. Younger judges could be the reason why The voice have higher ratings than Idol.,

I am a fan of Steven Tyler but I think he is not a good judge. He seldom say any negative comments and is afraid to say it. Idol needs someone brutal and honest who can motivate the contestants through negativity. In one way or another, yeah he used the show to revitalize his career. And also J.Lo did the same thing.

I want a producer who have tendency to be mean and nasty. Thats what we need now. The current roster ofjudges contributes to the reason why the show is getting stale.

AI somehow helped Mr. Tyler revitalized his career. I like him as a judge. I hope AI will be able to find a better judge.

I want a judge who is going to criticize contestants when they gone stale, Judges being too nice is the reason why we have 5 WGWG's in a row.

Honestly, I think American Idol just produces generic musicians. I do think that bringing Steve Tyler to the panel helped them momentarily but killed them in the end. In doing so, they brought this rock legend to the forefront and more people paid attention to his history and his story. He did say that prior to becoming a judge that he hated this show. Then as an afterthought, he thought if he were a judge, he could help weed out the talent. The problem is that a whole chunk of the process is missing with these Idol winners...the passion and the struggle. Many are born with a great voice or a talent for playing an instrument etc. A look into the history of Aerosmith and you will see a struggle and passion that did not quit when it looked like there was no hope in hell. That is what is missing in this Idol thing...that preserverence, drive and pure, undiluted passion to succeed no matter what. Who doesn't "want" to be a rock or country star? Those that succeed go through all sorts of trials to get there. If they want it that bad then they don't give up. Aerosmith did not give up. Most bands went through these struggles. I only use Aerosmith because of the topic. They sure aren't alone.

that's good news! i miss the times where Simon is in the group. after he left, nobody matches his prowess in judging. a judge cannot be too good, he or she will sound false if it sounded like that all the time.

I think he kinda contributes to the show having WGWG 5 years in a row because even if the WGWG is already giving a stale boring performance, he still praises him.

This show has gone through so mnay changes in judges. It is slowly losing its momentum. I would like to say that I am surprised at Steven /tyler's decision to leave but in reality I am not. It was just a matter of time. i don't think that any new changes in judging will make a clear difference to the followin of the show. People will watch or they won't. The random judges will just bring the latter on faster.

I think it has something to do with having complaints and they were trying to change now in hopes the winner is different and the finalist will look much more fresh.

I don't really think it matters who the judge is. He had just got out of re-hab again and needed something to do. His band was up in the air and I don't think anyone expected that Idol would be a permanent home with him. They have a new Albumn coming out and a tour so I don't find it surprising at all that he is done with it. That being said, I am a huge Steven Tyler fan and I'm not a huge Idol fan. In the whole time that he was a judge, I probably could count on two hands or less the amount of times I watched the show. I did NOT tune in just to watch Steve Tyler.

I don't think he was really all that well suited for the show anyways. And he should be just in a band and nothing more, revitalized his group, that sounds good to me. I always loved him and Aerosmith but for Idol he just doesn't cut it. All of his comments mostly included the word beautiful especially the first season, the second season he cut back some but also he wasn't as funny as the first season he was on there either.
