I just got my fence replaced and that cost me a bit. The money was from one of my late husband's gics and I have a bit left over but not enough to do the roof that needs to be done. In the meantime, I told my sons that I am planning to get a 3d TV (that will take about two or three years of saving for it and I have a separate part of my budget for that and that part also includes electronic repairs, replacements such as if the phone goes, the stove goes, etc. ) but they seem to have the idea that the money from the roof should come from that part instead of what I set aside for home repairs. and replacements.
I do think they are two different issues and besides in 2 or 3 years time, it might be that the 3d tv will replace the high def. regular tv we have now. You know how long things take to become normal.
i wonder if it is because men feel that when you want something, they think right now, this instance. Besides thinkng tht the iphone and ipads are toys. I would hate to think that the roof needs replacement, not because it is ove thirty years old, or to keep me from buying the new iphone. That is how my sons are making me feel.
By the way, I tried playing games on them and got bored.

hi suspensefu l that person had no idea of all you have been through so do not let him fret you. Yo are right to have a b udget. I find my son needs to learn how to stay within the money he gas also. I alos have to budget everthing as what I have here is very limited and mylotting does help some for me.

I was thinking about the money that my stepmother got instead of me and my brother and realized that my brother who is not that well is still living in an apartment when he really should be in a house. That is because instead of getting thousands of dollars, he just got a measly two or three thousand and with him being a janitor, he could not make enough to afford a house. At least I got married but he could not afford to.

I think this generation and the upcoming are all about the here and now and they think they are invincie therefore why save your mo eh for the things you want and need when you can spend the little bit you have right then even if it does leave you broke for a few weeks till your next pay but what they don't know is that " rainy days" do exist and if you spend all your money on nonsense your going to be worse off and regret it when theres no cash for real items you need.

Still do not get it. I did saive money of the rainy day and that is separate from my electronic account. I do not put everything in a big pit and decided either get this fixed or buy that. They think I am going to spend all the money I make that month other then utilities and food, for either this or that. They do not realize that I have a budget. I allow so much a month for food, so much for utilities, so much for home improvements, so much for entertainment (yes dvdd), so much for electronic repairs (every time I touch something electric, I get a shock.) So I would never never never never ever take all the money I make and put it on , lets say, a new fancy phone but I will put so much a month for it, and if there is a lot left over, that will go for something else.
And the problem is my eating junk food when I get depressed. Those chocolate bars and chips cost qute a bit.

hi suspenseful I think I missed this. now wonder how did you come o ut on getting the rooof re pair done.? Right men think inmmediate whebn it comes to repairs but the problems with a leakyh roof is that it can damage inside the house like w alls etc if water
runs down the walls. I think you should use what money you nad laid aside for t his and add some from what ever other source you have. Why because roof interior damage could be mmuch more costly in the long run.So I think you should do it and still have some money for the 3rd tv. roofs should co me first really.[
