Happy after suffering.

An owner of a large company in my country, said to me: "Hi Sofyan, I envy you! You've been poor, so that you understand the meaning of wealth. You often suffer from life, so you many find happiness. I was born a rich kid. According to everyone, I'm rich now. But, I can not feel it ". Honestly, I was confused at that time. How do you think?

I think it's normal if this owner said it. He is not the first one who never faced problems caused of financial needs. People who are like that in all of their life, learn in a difficult way to value what they are having. We appreciate what we get, because we put efforts to achieve it. Served on a plate will never be appreciated that much. Some people say it's not important what you have, important is the fight you experience til you reach it.

Wow, nice words! No matter what you get, but more importantly how the struggle to get it. Does this mean that the process is more important than the destination?

It all depends on the person. I can only share one of my stories. When I was kid I thought the world is a dream place. I was thinking when I become a worker I will make the world a better place, because with good education and a lot of efforts people may change from bad to good. Well it wasn't working that way. When I started to work I started to appreciate many things. I will never forget what it was when I had my first salary. I was a very hard worker, so it was pleasing thing for me to spend what I earned, doesn't matter small or big.

I think that sometimes the greatest amount of money will not buy the happiness that people seek when they pursue it. If they have always had it, it is hard to appreciate what they have. Happiness shows and it sounds like they see that in you. They see your success on more levels than just the money.

Maybe you're right. Success is not measured by wealth. The rich don't necessarily happy. Instead of happy people don't think rich. CMIIW (correct me if I'm wrong).

My bosses have been handed everything. and I know they don't feel it......they still think they should have more and its very sickening listening to someone who has so much complain all the time!

Being successful means enduring hardships. It doesn't mean that when we were born poor, we'll be poor all of our lives. Gaining experience will teach us a lot in life. We're not only rich in terms of money but also in experiences. That's why he envies you. You may be happier than him. You found happiness when you were dealing with life's obstacles. Other people don't give importance to their wealth. But wise people, especially who were poor before, do. It's really hard to earn money as well as happiness and contentment in life.

Yes .... you are very observant. Experience can earn money to eat one day, it makes me very happy. Surely he had never experienced it. Thank you for your nice comment.

A simple person with happy and contented life. :) I hope everyone including me would learn to live that way! Being rich or having a lot is actually good! but sometimes it's depending on the person involve or i mean how would they handle such riches or their attitude towards abundance...

Yes, I agree with you. Rich was fun, but be wise in managing the property to be useful (as well as others), is very very nice.
