I notice that our little luxury seems to be food. I'm always using the majority of my money to buy food or different things to eat. Thursdays are our busiest day and so we have pizza every Thursday night on the way home. We don't buy a lot of gadgets or games, etc. But we buy food most often.

i spend most of my money other than the bills on the healthy food.. fruits for that matter, specially the dry fruits are the one's which cost us more money for less. But then, these are all the necessary things that we need. Other than that, i do put in some money for clothes too. I don't go for a lot of branded things, but quality is a must for me, even if it is not a branded one!

That's a very good idea, to spend money on buying healthy food. Same here, i prefer my hard-earned money to be spend on healthy food. Only sometimes, we do like to spend some money into buying junk food as well.

Hi Dominique25, aside from healthy food I spend most of our money on vitamins, shopping and medical insurance. My husband and I always conscious in our health because we dont want to get sick because it very expensive. Most of the time we buy vitamins twice a month and shopping every two weeks for our personal things.

I understand that. It is definitely necessary to take care of our health. Health insurance is really expensive. And the cost of it continues to go up. I went to the doctor today and they did all kinds of test and it's going to cost me $200. I do my best not to go often. I haven't went to a regular doctor in like four years. So they did more test than normal just to make sure everything's alright while I was there.

Dominique, like everyone in here who responded to your discussion, spending money on food is a must. Besides paying bills, the second important is spending money on food that we need to eat daily. Nowadays, i prefer to buy more healthy food rather than junk food, which is not healthy. I am happy to see more and more members of my family had learned to eat healthy food. Only occasionally, i would spend money on clothes and new gadgets.

Yeah I agree with you that buying healthy food is very important. It does add up really fast but it is so much better for us. We will be happy that we have done these types of things in the future. We recently went shopping at a second hand store and bought some winter clothes that was needed for the colder weather.I can't imagine how much money we would have spent had we bought brand new clothes.

Me and my family always go out to dine out, so, we spend a considerable amount doing that, but like my mom says, it's worth because it's our family time. When it's my money (I'm a student, so, I only have the money that I win on the internet..), I like to spend in clothes, make up and kitchen tools.

Yeah I understand what you mean. My family and I like to go to dinner as well. I think it is a special time. There isn't the stress of having to cook and get things ready. Also for us it's like our little luxury. We don't go shopping to buy new clothes, gadgets, etc. So when we do go out to eat it is something we enjoy as a treat to ourselves.

Yeah it is very frustrating. We just recently moved into our new home. Since we had to spend so much money on the move now we have to do our best to save and catch up on our old and new bills. It seems to be a never ending cycle.

I'm also the same. Besides paying the bills, I spend most of my money with foods. Especially now that I am working at an office inside a mall, there are a lot of tempting foods. LOL But,I just realized that I should just eat the right amount of food daily and reduce my snacks, so that I can also buy some things that I want. :) I really like looking at the things that I bought for myself, using the money I worked for. ^_^

Yeah it would be hard to work inside a mall. It is fun being able to buy the things we want especially when we have saved up for it. We feel good about buying it knowing that we have made sacrifices in other areas so that we can have it.

hi dominique most of my social security and SSI checks go to Gold Crest each month for rent and yes, food too. the rest goes for cable internet of course and my landline phone for 7 dollars a month. 40 dollars ensures I will have good fast internet and can mylot as much as I want to. it to me is not a luxury but a necessity to keep me happy and sane and contented here at G old Crest.

Yeah I understand what you mean. It is a great thing to be able to have a good internet source to do online work. We were in the process of moving for the last month and I didn't have internet. It was hard for that time period because we could have used the extra money I would have earned had i had a way to use the internet. So now that I'm in our new place I have got cable internet so that I can start earning more again. I have to get our savings back up there because it is stressful not having a good savings.

My normal bills have gone up this last year, because I have been ill and there are several things not covered by insurance. Still I managed to go for my usual yearly luxury: a vacation. I never spend money buying prepared food, but make my food from scratch. I donĀ“t buy much clothes either and I only had this very old computer until my sister gave me a laptop for my birthday. My vacations are paid with whatever I earn online plus some dollars I get for using my credit card (which I pay wholly every month) and some coins I place on my piggybanks. I cannot get money from other sources for vacations, but I manage by sharing with friends the costs of good lodgingd as I own aa timeshare.

I'm sorry to hear that your expenses have went up this year. Our expenses as well has increased. We just moved to a different area. Our rent is now more and the distance my husband has to drive to work is further which cost a lot more gas. I'm glad that you use your earnings online and save your change to go on a good vacation. We all need a good vacation once a year. Right now I have to save my earnings from online to get our savings up. In July we had a lot of work done on our vehicle and went on a weekend trip. When we came back things went crazy and we had to move. So with all that has happened we need to get our savings going again and I will feel much better. Where did you get to go for your vacation?

Yeah I often times think it is a great necessity to have something good to drink. I always feel refreshed and energized when I know I will have to good to drink to get started working. It is also a nice thing to be able to go out and do little things that we enjoy.

Well i just realized that i haven't spend any thing on my self except food since a very long time. It's quite a pity that after all that hard work we don't have time nor have that kind of money to full fill our person needs. I wonder when that could happen.

I hope that sometime in the future you will be able to do something for yourself. I understand what you mean. Finances always seems to be tight and we often don't have money to buy the things that we would like to. It can be depressing when we think about it. But hopefully if we save a little here and there it will add up and we will be able to use it for a "want" at least every now and then.

Recently, I started accounting for our expenses every month to see if I can still cut back on some in order to increase my household savings. I also found out that I spend the most on food. Usually, organic foods are a bit more expensive than others, as well as those which are of better quality. Me and my husband talked about this and he doesn't mind; he said it is better and more practical to eat healthier and help prevent getting sick. It is more expensive to be sick.
