Alone but not Lonely

Have you experienced being along but not lonely? According to Henry David Thoreau an American author, poet and philosopher: "I never found a companion that was companionable as a solitude." Hmmm, Do you agree? Well, in my case I do agree. I like nature. Sometimes I go to the seashore and sit there for hours all alone. It gives me true to reflect on what I'm doing in my life. It's really great!. Sometimes I wanna go to place just be alone. I get some thinking done and pray. It's refreshing. Yes if used well, moments of solitude can give us deep satisfaction.

Most of the times I felt very lonely when I am alone. I am an one who is very talkative and I just love doing that. I feel very bored and lonely when no one is with it. I felt that the time with nobody with me is the worst time in my life. Most of the times I will be on my bed when I am alone.

Hello thewonderboy Yeah! so sad to be lonely. It feels great to have friends who are ready to listen especially when we feel bored.

I experienced being alone before my wife came to where I work, but I do not feel lonely all the time because I could contact her every day either by making a call with my cell phone or chatting with her on chatting software like the QQ chatting software we use. It is very convenient and free. So long as I don't feel lonely, it is ok even if I am alone. Thank you for the discussion.

That's great! Using our latest technology helps a lot to communicate with our love ones. Even we are in distant places we can still send messages or talk to them and hear their wonderful voices. Thank you for sharing

Sometimes this rings true for me also, but it can't be all the time or I would get too sad. I really cherish having time to myself sometimes, it gives me time to think without the distractions of other people around. Even not having someone in your immediate presence, you can still feel them with you in your heart so this is comforting.

My loneliest times are often when I'm with other people. I'm never lonely when I'm alone as I enjoy and value my own company. There's another quotation which says... "I'd Rather Be Alone Than Wish I Was", and another, I believe by Duc De La Rouchefoucauld, "When In Solitude be A Multitude To Thyself".

It's absolutely true that there are really times we are alone but we really don't feel lonely in fact you feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. However it is true indeed also that even you're with your friends you still feel lonely.Very empty deep inside and feel like there is something missing. I guess that is your personal peace and satisfaction. We also do the same thing, I set down on the seashore to find myself and have strength to face another challenge in life.

I live alone and don't have time to be lonely. I enjoy being alone and working alone. My backyard is my solace, since I can't get out to experience more nature any more (there's no place to go that's safe to be alone nearby). I spend time thinking, planning and praying without having to answer questions from anyone.

Being alone is something I urge for in a daily basis. Of course I *love* to spend time with my loved ones and my family(sometimes) but at times the stress of school and work gets to me. Sometimes all I want is to lock myself in my room, take a long hot shower or simply take a walk and meditate on myself, my life, what I'm doing, what is going on with my life? Without this certain space in which I contemplate my life and spend that special moment with myself I might even loose my sanity. I'm this type of person that has a forever running mind. I'm always thinking random thoughts of all types. Before I would think that going to a park alone was something to be depressed about but there was a moment in which my mom had cut the internet and in boredom and some wifi stealing from the neighbors I learned that going to the park alone was something to look after because it was so peaceful, fun and relaxing! :) I love nature.

I agree. I am not an introvert person, but I prefer to be alone. At home, at work. I usually only spend time in my room, reading, watching movies, listening to songs, or getting online. But for some months ago, I got the chance to go out of town, rent a hotel room, and rest. Well, at first I met my friend. But after he left, I got the chance to spend the rest of the day alone in the hotel room alone. No mom's yell, no work load, no gossip. Just me. And I enjoyed it so much. I'm looking forward to doing the same thing again...

I have been alone many times by choice, but I never felt lonely. The physical absence of friends or loved ones doesn't necessarily mean that they are out of our lives already. My friendship and my relationship with my family goes beyond them being near or far. Even though we are far apart, we still remain friends; we're still family. Being alone allowed me to discover things that I am good of, because I learned how to rely on myself. I began to make decisions that I used to consult with anyone else. It is a bit scary, but once you're over it, it can be quote liberating. I also believe that you will never appreciate a person's company when you haven't embraced or appreciated how it is being alone.

While some people prefer to live with someone else so that they are not lonely, others prefer to live alone. You may prefer to live alone without worrying someone else's needs you or you may have a bad experience in the past...but no matter why you choose to live alone, you can be happy with your choice. :)
