Making chocolate chip cookies in her Easy Bake oven

A couple of years ago we gave our granddaughter an Easy Bake oven for Christmas. I never had one when I was little but a couple of my friends had them. She has fun with it. I don't like any of the cake or cookie mixes, they taste like they have too much baking soda or baking powder in them. But she likes them, and that's what counts. I think when I make a batch of cookies or a cake I'll give her some of the dough to bake in her easy bake oven. Has anyone done that before, and does it work?

I used to have an Easy Bake Oven when I was little and I loved that thing. No, the deserts weren't that great but it was the fact that I got to do them..LOL. I thought they had discontinued those ovens...it's neat to hear they still have them. I think that most any dough will do as long as it's not too thick. I never used anything other than the easy bake mix but I don't see why it wouldn't work. It would be worth a try anyway.

I had a Suzy Homemaker oven. It also used a light bulb to cook. It was just like a regular oven. I loved it. I made tons of cakes.

i used to have one when they were cool to have in the 1970's. my mom always got me the latest and greatest for Christmas and because i was an only child, i used to get a lot of neat stuff. i remember making stuff with mine and when my girls were little, someone gave us one which we made stuff with. i don't know how real dough would work but its worth a try, right?

yes i got one for xmas way back in the 50's. i was an only child and both mom and step dad worked then. between 6yrs. and 12 yrs, i got everything new on the market for holiday occassions. but after that mom took off with me to live with a loser and no more fun. anyway, it was nice when i had one. couldnt tell you if your mixes will work but i see others say they will.

I had one of those when I was little. But I never took other things to bake in them I just did the packs that they gave me in my kits. The never tasted like baking soda or baking powder. How the heck backs with that stuff. I don't even bake with that stuff when i make things from scratch. I would love to get one for my daughter but she isn't old enough for one just yet she is too young for it.

I ADORED my easybake oven! And yes, other mixes do work, but you have to be very careful because other mixes typically rise much more than easybake oven mixes, and then you end up with a messy oven (they're really hard to clean so you have to burn them off without causing a fire) that smells like smoke. So yes and no, just be careful!

I had one, which is unusual because we were poor as church mice. It came with a few mixes but they were expensive even back then in the early 60s so Mom did as you are planning and it worked pretty well. You might experiment with your granddaughter to find the optimal baking time as I think they are still using just a light bulb to provide the heat. You should be there so she won't be discouraged and write down the times it takes to bake so you can see when you burn or under bake them, kind of like a scientific experiment. And while you wait will be a great chance to talk or play a game.

I used to have an easy bake oven and I only used it a few times. When I did use it I think I had a Dunkin Donuts kit that could make chocolate and plain donuts. The kit even came with a mini dunkin donuts donut box! I thought it was the coolest thing when I was little. I can't remember what else I made in it but I liked it. I always wanted to try the real foods like pizza and mac and cheese. I'm not sure if you can use actual dough or not, I never tried it I always used the mixes and kits that were made by easy bake oven.
