Stress and it's toll on our Bodies..

From personal experience, stress can really have devastating affects on our bodies. I've been so stressed before that I keep feeling my stomache tightening until I end up throwing up and having the diarrhea at the same time, my body also shakes when this happens. On top of that, stress causes my weight to go up and down and my skin seems to break out more when I'm stressed. Have you ever noticed any type of physical side effect from stress? Would you mind sharing what happened? Thanks for commenting.

The amount of stress that I have dealt with lately has done nothing but punish my body. I have been sick a lot lately, and dealing with dramatic weight loss, which wouldn't be bad, but it has made my body weaker and more prone to injury. i have always been a big boy, but the stress of dealing with unemployment, fighting the system, losing everything because I had no job, and dealing with nearly being kicked out of school had taken its toll rapidly on my health mentally, psychologically, emotionally, and physically. I couldn't eat regularly, and when I did, nothing tasted good, if I could even hold it down at all. Even when I drunk something, I wasn't able to hold it down. This has eased up slightly, but I am still dealing with some serious issues.

What you've explained here sounds like a lot for one person to swallow at one time, I wish you the best that things turn around. Life is hard enough without having to feel physically ill because we are so bothered by things..

Thanks for the advice. I realize that sleep is helpful but I feel like oversleeping and wanting to do nothing but sleep becomes dangerous, this seems to be what I'm experiencing.

Agent 807, if you can, go see a doctor. There are a lot of things going on there that could be the sign of something more serious; so if you can, get checked out. They should do a CBC (Complete Blood Count) and depending on the symptoms, check some other things. The tricky thing with stress is that it interacts with so many other things. Lost a job, that's stressful, so you might turn to eating, drinking, or something else unhealthy, which can lead to other health issues, which then in turn get back to causing more stress. More stress hormones released lead to all sorts of other things getting put out of wack, from mental health to digestion... which can lead to a never ending cycle of things getting more and more out of order... One of the best remedies for stress is sleep. Make sure to get enough of it, or take a nap. If you are in deep sleep you can't think about issues and your body has some down time to try and recover.

I can confirm that I also my body starts acting strange when I'm stressed at work or worried about something. Last 2 days I have a very annoying back pain and also my stomach hurts. I'm afraid of hick-ups because I fear not to throw up. Best thing to do is to have a long good night sleep and in the morning have a cup of tea or something. Tea help my stomach feel much better. I hear some people work very efficient in stress conditions but I'm not really like that, because if I'm in a hurry to do things I may not do it properly so I rather take my time.

Strange that I should find this discussion today. In the past two weeks I've felt a lot of stress. I am trying to help my daughter get into public housing. There is a lot of paperwork and a lot of official papers that have to be turned in. I really think this would be best for her and us considering she lives in our trailer and we are not able to keep uop the trailer or yard work like we used to be any more. I had diarreha everyday two weeks ago and could not pinpoint why. My husband did not habve it so son't think it was anything we ate or the flu. I think it was from worry. Lasty week I had a couple arguments with said daughter and I had a migrain level headache twice. Had not had them in over a year. Again I believe it was stress and drinking too much coffee. I too get skin breakouts on my face when stressed and I tend to over eat. I thought I would be throught with acne over 50 years old but guess not.

Sounds like you go through a lot of the same symptoms that I do when stressing out, it's almost like our body is getting mad at us and telling us to "calm down".

My skin breaks out too and I look just ugly. Lately i've been so stressed and I just look so awful. I know a way to ease out my stress but i'm too lazy to do that nowadays. I discovered that touching the soil, working on my garden eases up a lot of my stress. But now I couldn't seem to find my way to my garden. Maybe i should just try replanting and working on my garden again.

I think a lot of the battle is forcing ourselves to go do something that we would normally enjoy doing when we don't feel like doing anything, usually it makes us feel better. For me, going for a swim always makes me feel better but it seems to be a struggle for me to agree to go in the first place.

I get digestive and gastro intestinal problems from stress as you also seem to do. But for me, it also affects my sleep. I am a severe insomniac and even the slightest stress causes me to not be able to sleep, sometimes all night. I also eat too much and some of that is due to stress in my life. I use food trying to relax and to make up for all the things that do not go right in my life. It costs me money and it has caused a lot of weight gain. I have tried to learn how to meditate to cope with stress but that has not helped much.

With my sleeping patterns I seem to be the very opposite, I force myself to sleep as an escape and I end up oversleeping most of the time. I can sleep for 12 hours and wake up to feel like I haven't slept at all.

Stress is sciencetific proven to gain you weight. When you stress your body think that you are starving, so it stop processing the food and begin to save it up as fat. So basically everytime you stress, you are making your body thinking that you are starving/dieing. Thats the reason that you should always stay calm. This is also one of the reasons that makes americans so fat. They don't really stress all the time, but they always have this worry about terrorism in their backhead. That means that they are stressing without really stressing, only physically. Please take care, and don't stress, otherwise you may get fat.

So if this is true, you could eat almost nothing all day and still gain weight from being stressed out? This seems unfair...haha..

Oh very true. Stress is something which hides behind other illness and triggers them. They may seem to be harmless but biologically speaking,it certainly is the cause of variety of other problems that we face. Also the foolishness lies in the fact that taking stress has nothing to do with the problem it is being created by. But then remaining stress free is also an art which most of us do not have but need to learn.

You're right, I'd love to know how people manage to live a stress free life, I know it's all in how you deal with it but for some reason I can't deal with it at all.
