New GreenDay songs Oh Love and Kill The DJ

I am a huge Green Day fan, infact there my favourite band and the reason I learned guitar in the first place, anyhow in the last month they have released the song Oh love on youtube and their website and tonight the song Kill the DJ aired on Radio 1. Has anoybody heard these songs yet if so what do you think?

I know they are all getting older but it didn't seem true to Green Day its different sounds a mix if what they did with Foxboro hot tubs and garage music.
I just miss the more punk sound of them The new album is out end of september.

yeah i would agree with the foxboro hot tubs comment for sure, but I saw the set they did at the reading festival this year and there was a new song called stay the night and its an absolute belter of a song, definetly a song older school green day fans will like :)

I haven't heard "Kill the DJ" - but I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota (of the US) and it seems we get "new" songs very very late. But I have heard "Oh Love" and to be honest it didn't really impress me. I used to like Green Day a lot - pre "American Idiot" days - my favorite songs were probably: Hitchin' a Ride (For sure, probably my favorite), She, Longview, Macy's Day Parade, Waiting, Brain Stew and so on.. I miss those kinds of songs. Oh Love seems so... soft! I know they are all getting older but it didn't seem true to Green Day, if you ask me. Although, of course, bands evolve, I just miss the more punk sound of them! I should get the album when it comes out so I can make a good, real judgement. (Or has it already come out? Ha ha, I need to get with the times here!) Happy MyLotting!

Well if you like Green Days older sound I am not sure what you will think of the song Kill The DJ, its different sounds a mix if what they did with Foxboro hot tubs and garage music.
But yeah pre american idiot Green Day were awesome but I still find that they are, my fsvourite album was there first one released in 1990. But the think I like about Oh love and their new stuff is that its going away from the Rock Opera album stuff and into something less serious.
The new album is out end of september I beleive but Billies hinted that some of the songs on their will bring the old Green Day fire back :)

I'm a huge Green Day fan and I loved Oh Love from the very first time I heard it! I just thought it was so different to anything from 21st Century Breakdown (which I also love) and that they certainly weren't playing it safe. Kill The DJ was a massive gamble that paid off. When I first heard it I wasn't too keen. But now I love it. The boys are experimenting and that's fine with me. I think UNO is amazing and DOS is growing on me as we speak! I'm struggling slightly with Lady Cobra and Nightlife but the rest of the album is awesome!
