Eating Rice every day

Since I was young, my parents made me eat rice every day if not every other day in my meals. Is that good? I know it's a grain and grain is great for your body, but I'm worried that too much of one thing is never great. Should i diversify the grains I eat everyday such as eating noodles once in a while?

white rice is good, in my country, white rice is staple food and everyone love white rice so much. White rice has good taste, better another staple food, but everything you take TOO much can be not good again .. every single a plate of white rice you eat, you already get 242 calories and you can get diabetes because white rice has a lot of sugar inside. so sometimes i change my white rice with another meals, for example change with red rice, noodles, wheat, corn, bread, cassava, or potatoes. maybe the taste is not good as rice but they are healthy and a lot of carbohydrates, same as white rice. specially for corn, i love corn so much, i can eat a lot of corn and can feel full too with it, so i choose corn for my second option for my staple food.

I love red rice. It's nice and healthy. The fiber is good for you. Red rice is also rally good reheated. Red rice is a version of long grain Thai rice. I'm not fond of Thai rice. It's better than many other types of white rice, but not my favorite. For white long grain, I prefer Persian rice. Now of course I need sushi rice and risotto rice and... and... Each dish needs a special rice. In Israel we have a huge selection of rices.

Dear Lastbrother, first of all welcome to Mylot! You have posted an interesting discussion, in the sense that now a days most of the people have this question in their minds and they often discuss this with their friends or relatives. Before see if rice is god for health or not, let us see what a balanced diet should have. One should consume food containing Carbohydrates, Proteins and fats together with required trace minerals required by the body. Vitamins completes the balanced diet. Here Carbohydrates are acting as main source of energy that is required by our body. If eaten in excess this may converted into fats and stored in the body. the examples of Carbohydrates are Sugars and starchy substances. Wheat, rice, Oats and Maize etc are main sources of carbohydrates. Proteins are building units of body and they are available in meat, eggs, fish, soybean, pulses etc. This is utilised by the body in building its structures ;like muscles and other organs. If eaten in excess this thing also gets converted into fat through different process in the body. Fats are direct source of energy and they are stored in the body as reserves to utilise them in case of emergency. They are important to act as vehicle for fat soluble Vitamins like Vitamin ADE and K. Oils, Ghee and Fats from animal sources are good sources of Fats. Nuts often have good amount of fats. Trace minerals and vitamins are required by the body to perform its metabolism properly. they don't have any caloric value. Now coming to your discussion,Rice! Rice is a source of carbohydrate. This is eaten as staple food in many parts of the World. In India all the coastal areas are rich in production of rice and they have rice as their staple food. Similarly most of the southern states and eastern states have rice as their staple food. There is no harm having rice as source of energy in the form of carbohydrate. Eating excess of carbohydrates in any form.may it be as rice or wheat you are going to have them accumulated them in the body as fat! Thus in conclusion I would like to tell you that rice is a very natural source of carbohydrate and you can have it on regularly without any problem so long you are not over eating it! Thanks for the nice discussion ! I liked participating in it!

Eating rice every day is fine as long as you are eating other type of food too at the same time, for example like apart from eating rice, you also eat meat, vegetable, soup etc...in your meal. But you feel tire of doing that, you can eat noodle, spaghetti, macoroni, etc to replace rice once a while to enrich your appetite. But if your parent only allow you to eat rice alone in everty meal, then it will be bad for your health. So far i never heard that parent will force their children to eat rice only in every meal they served, that probably will never happen.

I'm hoping I never have to eat rice by itself. It sounds bland.

Until recently I would have said sure it's okay to eat rice every day. People in Asia have been doing it for centuries. Now that some of the rice grown in the world presents a problem with arsenic I am not so sure that eating it often is a good thing.

I think if you substitute it with rice, it's practically going to be the same thing. Rice is good for the body, but that is as long as you eat it in moderation. Like eating a 3 cups of rice a day, for me is normal. What's not is eating twice the amount of that. If you are really concerned about the health benefits of rice, you try substituting white rice with brown or red rice. Those are healthier options.

Every day, I used to eat rice. For Indonesia, rice is the staple food. Indonesia people, do not feel satisfied, if not eating, using the rice. But, eating lots of rice, it is not recommended for diabetics. Because rice contains a lot of sugar.

For a scientific fact let me tell you that rice is not good for health if you keep eating it for long time and its best to get some tiffins or some natural breakfast ,so try to avoid it at times,i also get bored with rice,it makes me fatigue and feel tired after eating it

Rice is also a staple food of our country. But taking rice in every meal is not advisable. If u take rice in lunch, skip rice for dinner. U can eat noodles, or soups with lots of veggies and chicken which would make a complete meal.
