I am sick for a couple of days suffering from coughs, colds and a slight fever, and as I eat my meal a few minutes ago, I can't taste nor smell the food, I know how delicious it is, but I can't even enjoy eating. I had this feeling when I had coughs and colds a couple of months ago. I am drinking plenty of water, taking medicine. It is really an awful experience to lost any of your senses, even though it will take only a few days. :( Aside from what I've mention, what other things we can do to prevent or avoid this?

Getting enough rest would greatly help in bringing your health back to its normal condition. You may also drink a lot of fruit juice like orange juice or kalamansi juice to gain Vitamin C.

Of course , when one has cough and colds, you cannot have the taste for foods. So, it would be best that you drink lots of water, take vitamin c and eat citrus fruits.

The reason why you can't taste anything is because your sense of smell is gone from being congested. If you get some nose drops, it can clear up your nasal passages for a little bit, and your sense of taste will come back. You could also try blowing your nose, to clear it out while you eat. It will let you taste your food a little more.
