Childen's football practise

I was talking with a Mom who had just realized how very stupid it was to allow her 12 year old boy join in preschool year football practise in 107 degree heat. She was telling me about this and how hard this activity was on her boy. Then she started to justify this, all of a sudden she stopped and remember what she just told me. She smiled at me and said " I just realized that I risked my child's health on an activity for which he will get no credit in school," all just because others were doing this same thing and I let him talk me into it. I looked back and thought of how often I had been in the same situation, I was lucky none of my children were hurt, but others were and one even died. I guess it's a case of not being able to see the forest for the trees. Isn't life full of these?

There are definitely a lot of things like this in life. When it comes to children's sports, that is really one that I believe is quite difficult for parents. The reason that it is so difficult for parents is because of the fact that it is always hard for a parent to say no to their children. In addition to that, there are so many children that don't spend enough time being active and if we tell them that they cannot participate in sports, then there is a chance that they will become lazy.

You know, we see a lot of things much more clearly in our rear view mirror of life. I cannot tell you for sure what right now, but from time to time I will find that I cannot believe I ever did, whatever it was I did.
