I didn't go to the High School Reunion

Philippines

I have never attended any of the reunions that my batchmates in highschool have set up. I've always wanted to experience reunions, however, I want to make sure that I'm really going to enjoy it. Unfortunately, my high school circle of friends couldn't make it, so there was no point of me going there. I saw their pictures, and I'm a little envious that they are having such a good time.

I don't think there will be a chance for the same. First of all, my batch left the school long-long back and I don't think if we meet incidently anywhere, we can recognise them also. Yesterday, one of my close friend send a recent photo after long time (around 5 years now) and I got a lots of changes and there is no hair on his head! Also, I met one of my class-mate (girl) last years and she looks so aged and I older. As all of them got separated and not even know who-where-what and all. And the most different aspect is that the school itself is changed a lot. It become one of the most famous college in our area. Earlier, we could have easily go to the school at any time and now it got higher walls, gates, and high level protection and all. And there is no hope for a reunion of our batch and even I don't think it is possible for a batch, which is disbursed just 5 years before also.

Why would you think its impossible. It would even be more exciting to have a reunion, now that you're beyond midlife. My mother attended their gradeschool batch reunion a couple years ago, and she had so much fun meeting her batchmates again, after more than 50 years. It was their 50 year reunion.

That's a nice school. You don't really need to go to the school to have your reunion there. You can have it in a hotel or beach resort.

Hmmm.. that really sounds like more problem than fun, if most of the people can't be reached. Well, perhaps, you can just hope that someone else from your batch would be interested to organize the party and they have more aggressive ways of reaching out to the whole batch.

I've never really had any desire to attend a highschool reunion, I didn't like highschool very much to be honest so I think it would just bring back negative memories for me. I haven't really kept in touch with any of my past classmates, besides facebook of course!

Yeah, I know a few people who really didn't like highschool and wouldn't want to even remember anything from that time. I, myself, did not totally enjoy highschool. I had a few friends, and I could say, I've outgrown that phase in my life. I have new friends who matter more to me, this time.

I have not gone to my high school reunions. I couldn't stand the people I went to high school with back then, and I know that most of them are still the same narrow-minded, bigoted, drunken rednecks that they were back in high school. I haven't gone to my college reunions, either. I somehow always manage to forget about them until months after the fact. Oops... Oh, well.

Oh, too bad, you didn't enjoy your highschool folks. I also had a few names whom I never want to meet again. I've seen that they haven't outgrown their bratty selves. And, i don't want to mess with people like that. For college, I didn't go with the same batch all throughout, so ,I don't really see a significance of having a reunion for collegemates. I had different classmates for every class and in every year level. I had a few friends, but I coudl always meet with them when i want to.

I never went to places where my chums disn`t go. I did not have much to talk with some of my classmates, not then, not now, not ever. I didn`t see any point in spending my time with them as there was nothing important to share. They did not care really about my family, work or interests. So for me it would not have been a good time.

I have a much better time getting together with my few chums once in a while and it`s a lot less expensive. Then we can talk of things we did in those days, but are also interested in our present lives.

Oh, I wouldn't expect to hear that from you, friend. I see you as a very friendly and engaging person. Anyhow, I feel the same way. I wouldn't enjoy it without my close friends.

That's right, I even forgot most of my highschool classmates already, and considering there were less than a hundred of us in the batch. That's a small number compared to the average number of students in a batch from other schools.

You know, that is one thing that I have regretted all these years. I have become distant to my own group of friends and other classmates that I have missed a lot of their get together. Now that I have bridged the gap through Facebook and text messages, I am always eager to join them even if my own friends would it make it. It is time to make a connection to other people aside from your own friends.

Well, that is for me to find out.I want to know them and I can go out of my way just to know them. Coz really, I have classmates or batchmates that have never talked to during High School, but now, after seeing them few times during small get together, we do exchange text messages or communicate through FB. I have become a lot more open in accepting new friends unlike before that I was only speaking with my friends.

I think that comes with maturity. I also have the same story. There are a few people I never got to talk to during high school, because we are so engrossed with our own circle of friends.

Do you think people would be more friendly than they used to be in high school, and would entertain you or talk with you even if you didn't use to talk before?

Hi friend, sad to hear about this, high school reunions always give pleasure to us, sadly my high school mates also never conduct this kind of reunions and i don't know what happened to them, luckily my college mates are interested in this kind of reunions and we all met once in a while and have more fun on that day.

That's good for you. At least you still keep in touch with your college friends, even when you already have a new circle of friends from work. I have not been in touch with either highschool nor college friends. Most of them are out of the country. But, Im still happy and busy with family, anyway.

Oh I hope next time, you and your friends can attend your reunion. It's so good to meet our batchmates. You'll remember all the fun memories you have and not only that, you'll meet your high school crushes, your rivals, etc. Happy myLotting.

Unfortunately, my friends are all out of the country or out of town. I'm the only one left in the same area. Perhaps, next time, some of us can be there so we get to enjoy the fun of a reunion.

Reunion is a rare event. Unfortunately if you aren't present. You have to wait for the next reunion, which was held not know when.

Right. But, if I go there, and don't find my friends to chat with, I may just regret being there. Unfortunately, Im not a very friendly person and have a limited circle of friends.

We also had one this year and I wasn't able to attend too. I was born and studied in the province and since it's too far, distance and time were the reasons I was not able to attend. They are planning again next year and I hope i will be be to join this time.

In our batch, a lot of them are already staying and working in other countries, and the organizers have to find the right time, when most of them are back here. Like in December, because most OFWs would come home for Christmas. I do hope you could get to join the reunion next year.

Going into a reunion is really enjoyable. Chance to meet old friends, updates and catch up. Remembering memorable experiences that you have shared before. Great bonding time even for awhile. I always attend reunions or alumni if a have chance now cause it is really happened once in awhile so I do always grab the chance.

Good for you. You must be a very friendly person and love to be in the crowd. I already missed 2 reunions for my highschool batch. But, still I think it was better that I didn't go, if my friends aren't there, too. I won't enjoy it anyway. I'll just feel left out.

I also attended our high school reunion last year when I was not yet very busy. It's really nice seeing each other again after such a long time. But this year, since I have so many things to attend to, I was not able to attend.

Good for you. In your reunion, did you notice the same circle of friends together, or it did everyone get along well with everybody around?
