What an exciting match it was, and for Everton Supporter as well as neutrals, the result is also a great one. Everton is usually a slow starter and would be flirting on the brink of relegation zone before Christmas. But this season opening match seem to point that things might be looking up for the toffees. I hope they could finish top three and perhaps win one of the cup.

It was being billed as the revenge match for Man United as last year the 4-4 draw against Everton probably cost them their title. But Everton once again proved to be it's nemesis beating Man United 1-0. What is even surprising is that as you pointed out Everton is usually a slow starter. This really starts the season nicely. Cheers! Ram

Yes, that is because in the last few years Everton have been notoriously slow starters and then they start collecting points towards the end of the season and then they end in the mid table. If they start winning early this season, then they do have a chance to compete for the top 6 finish this year!! Cheers! Ram

Well they are very slow starters, however these are early days yet and while that was a good victory against 19 times title winners, does not mean they would do well. They tend to do better against the stronger teams like Chelsea and Manchester United but against the so call weaker teams, they somehow does not show up. I just hope that Nikica Jelavic would be able to maintain his form and start this season with lots of goals. I am still dreaming of a top 4 finish, I hope it would happen.

I know what you are saying, in some forums, they are saying it would be 0-7 scoreline. I think they gave us little respect and did not expect us to give them such a hard time. I am glad they won their opening match, but it is still a long season. I was reading that the last we won our opening match, we gone on to finished forth and got into champion league. With a performance like that, I dare dream of a top four finish.

Me and my hubby are still on a high. Everton have been meaning to do that for a while now and I'm so pleased for them and their fans.

Are you a Evertonian too? I am very excited, and I think besides that they have build on a good team with very good signings like Kevin Mirallas. Have you seen the videos of him in action? I hope we can build on the win on Manchester United and finish top five. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NmMJI2MDY4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaLk9MPnWrk

We prefer Liverpool to be honest BUT concede that Everton are a better team and have been for the last 3 years at least. Everton are a very stable club with Moyes at the helm and I'm so pleased he's stayed. A lot of managers are as bad as the players in wanting to leave (look at that Clown who is at Liverpool, the guy who used to be successful at Swansea)..absolutely no way is he any better or worse than Kenny Dalglish. Also, Everton aren't riddled with debts which is rare in the Premiership as you probably already know.

You are one of the more sensible support I know of Liverpool to understand Liverppool are on the decline. I think Brendan Rodgers is to blame for the decline but I think it starts with Rafael Benítez. Actually he has only the championship medal to show other than that with the millions spend, they were no closer to the BPL title. And with the owners interfering every now and then it would hard to improve. While Everton was position higher than Liverpool, but they have lost all the matches with Liverpool last season. That for most toffees is a hard pill to follow. I think Everton is stronger this season and I would like to see how the two Mersey Side rivals develops, while we are not standing on the same side but I think as long it is a meaningful discussion.

Everton beat Manchester United in the Premier League weekend early. This is not surprising because Everton has always been a stumbling block for Manchester United. You remember how Everton managed to eliminate the chances of Manchester United for the title last season after the crucial weeks they managed to draw against Manchester United with the score 4-4. And the match Everton really deserved to win because they dare to push Manchester United, and Manchester United did not get out of pressure. Reasonable results. I think the title of the Carling Cup or FA Cup they can get.

diezmara22 I think Everton has always done well against Manchester United in recent seasons. However I have a feeling that this could be a season they actually win some titles, I am hoping it would be the FA cup. I know it would be unreasonable to ask of them to play the way they did against Manchester united, they would be able to finish among the top four and aim for Euro next season. With a good start I dere dream but they have the habit to winning some big matches but they tend to do badly against the team in the lower half.
