Well, That Song's Going To Be Stuck In My Head For A While!! LOL

Our transit system here in Guelph has been screwed up all week, so I have found myself riding in a lot of taxis. One of our cab companies in Guelph is called "Red Top Taxi." The car is all yellow, with the top painted red. Anyway, yesterday I took a cab to the bank, and asked the driver to wait for me, so we could continue to my final destination. He had a really nice Oldies station on, and I knew a lot of the songs. The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" came on, and it got the driver and I thinking. By the time we got to the cafe, from the bank, we had altared the words slightly. For the rest of the day I was walking around singing We all ride in a yellow taxicab, a yellow taxicab, a yellow taxicab... That's probably one of the more innocent parodies I've either heard, or invented. My huband came up with one for the Beatles "All My Loving..." that I'd better not post on here, lest this discussion get flagged as inappropriate for MyLot. It has no dirty words, but the message is rather smutty. haha Anyway, does this ever happen to you? You hear a familiar song, and somehow your brain adapts the lyrics to your current situation...

Sometimes at work....and once I start singing usually someone else steps in to help. Then it can get really crazy. But so much fun!

Actually, I don't do it, but then I'm not very good at this stuff - I did once add the first couple of lines to one Maggiepie was working on tho.. However, in the SF/F circles it is a very common and actively done activity... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filk_music

yes I have made up lyrics to songs especially if I am singing to my cats, because I kept the tune and change the lyrics to reflect the cats, I also cannot write them here for fear that I would offend somebody.

The taxi driver sounds really nice. I like the Beatles myself. They had a lot of great songs they song. My mother use to play records of them that she had.

Do you know I've never heard the entire song Yellow Submarine? If I only heard the melody with no words, I don't think I'd recognize it. I had a song stuck in my head the other day. I wrote about it on Gather. It reminded me of my parents. And it took me days to quit singing it! I didn't even mean to, it just stuck.

We (my brother and I) used to sing She was just seventy... and the way she looked was way beyond repair. How could I dance with her mother...
