This would qualify as a repetitive dream, which in dream language (to ourselves) means it is an important message to herself. If she were to quietly ponder her dream she may find out what it is she fears. Dreams are symbols, and each thing, person and event is a symbol. The best interpreter of the symbol is the dreamer. To ask herself what each thing in the dream means to her. If she quietly ponders it, the meanings will come to her. There may have been something in childhood which scared her, it could even be a repressed memory.. or it just may be a (persistent) fear she has.

If your friend has been having the same dream for several years, I would suggest she gets some help from a psychiatrist. Someone who is professional might be able to explain why she is having the dream. Dreams are usually a manifestation of something lingering in our sub-conscience that is associated maybe with a traumatic experience. Does she remember something that happened that changed her life when she was very young? I do not believe it is coincidence for her to be having the same dream. Dreams can often tell something about the person that the person might not even realize about themselves.

she doesn't remember anything nor does her parents. its better that we do consult a good psychiatrist now.

It happens to me as well. It was a lot frequent when I was still a kid. It was always something or someone or no one chasing me but I'm still running away like my life's depended on it. It could be fear for the inevitable. A fear caused by childhood insecurities for me. And it has been going on for sometime. I have no real scientific explanation for this but as long as I am human and feel fear, I think I'll keep on dreaming things like this.
