How to sound proof my room from outside noises?

I am recently facing this problem at our bed room. There is a nearby construction going on..the machines and construction work is creating lots of sound that we could not bear. Is there any tips to sound proof or noise proof that i can use to stop the noise. The construction may take another a year to complete, so i want to do something till it gets over?

That is a tough thing to answer. haning heavy blankets over the windows might help but then you wouldn't have any natural light coming in....maybe ear plugs at night? Or how about a white noise like a fan....might break it down a bit.

Close all the possible opening where sounds could go through. And in addition, insert a piece of cloth under you door, between your window and other openings too add more sound proof effect. Or just put on a headset playing your favorite songs in it. haha
