in the last 48 hours on mylot i have read a number of discussions and responses regarding the controversial movie that has upset muslems around the world. The most upsetting part of this is that some of the responses are trying to justify the killings of innocent people who have no connection with this movie and now i see a discussion trying to justify it by mentioning an incident from 20 years ago of which their is no link to substantiate the accusation. I don't know about you guys, but i do not go on mylot to read threatening comments. I wish mylot would calm down and anyone that has extremist views should maybe post on youtube. What is your take on all off this? Are you enjoying it or hating it or maybe just ignoring it? Perhaps i should be choosing the latter option!

Yes, innocent people die in war, but i am not aware of us being at war over a movie. The movie insults islam apparently. i say apparently as i have not watched it yet.

I already watched the movie. It is posted on Youtube for all the world to see. It made fun of Islam and Muhammad. Youtube should have done better by blocking that movie on their site. They justify that making and uploading that movie is only a manifestation of freedom of speech. But people must be reasonable enough and must know that a freedom end when it tramples upon the rights of others.

hi ajk hope mylot does not delete this as it is a great discussion .Yesterday here I read one person declaring that the 9 /11 was done by Americans to justify war against Afghanistan and I was ' furious.as an American I watched in horror as those planes crashed on purpose into the twin towers,.I do not come here to read extremist view either.,get enough of that from the media.I do not enjoy these either and hate them and wish they would find another site to vent their spleen on. not our formerly peaceful mylot., theres plenty of hate in the off line world do we want that here? NO of course not,

Hatley The really sad part is they really believe it and there is no way to convince them that it was not a hoax.

as moslem, iam not confortable the discussion about how to blame islam and moslem overall (include in attack of USA embassy in Libya)...because most of the discussion only said that the case is wrong but they didn`t understand it is only reaction from the controversial movies and the reaction of USA government which didn`t give the hard punishment for the movie maker (USA citizens)...

killing innocent people who have no connection with the movie is surely murder for murders sake?

I'm a Muslim and I say you are right.Killing innocent people is not permissible in Islam. If there's someone to be punished, they are the one's who are responsible for producing that film, but that would be after a fair trial.I think the film Innocence of Muslims was made to make the Islamic world furious and it does met it's goals. I have not seen the entire film but it just so annoying to portray Prophet Mohammed like that, when it's not even allowed to paint a picture or paint images portraying him even if it's a good purpose, how much more if you'll portray him with a characteristics very far from reality in a bad way,to mock him and to mock Islam. Muslim world was so furious about how America has allowed the release of that film, and to think the man responsible for that film had been convicted of so many crimes including FRAUD.I think that justifies itself that the film is not true but merely to discredit Islam. We'll maybe that's what you called freedom of expression and it does have negative consequences intentionally. Why America have not prevented that in the first place?

Hi ajk Fortunately, I havent been on any such discussion of hate and anger due to this movie. Yes, I wont deny that I havent been on 3 discussions (including this one) which discuss this movie and its after-effects but I have been fortunate that the responders, until then, have been peaceful. And if I met a lotter who was spreading hate, I would move on to the next box or even have my own box which would be peaceful (If there wasnt anywhere else to go here at MyLot, which I doubt) Killing anyone is the worst thing and probably I will never do it at least in the name of such things.

Issues about religion would be matter if all are putting their belief and determination.. so to avoid any misunderstanding my suggestion is be careful about responding about the issue. We cannot please others in our opinion unless you agree with them, so if your principle is in other side better not to participate in the issues that will avoid the real purpose here which enjoyment.

I agree with you. You cannot justify killing someone because your sentiments were hurt. Killing is a bigger crime (or sin as fundamentalists call it) than hurting sentiments. Its a plain, simple fact. Sometimes we need to put basic understanding and common sense in some situations rather than following age old scriptures and greedy priests, clergies, etc. Violence and threat is a solution to nothing. It only makes matters worse. I don't know how you can kill innocent people and claim to be a peaceful community at the same time!? And I'm not pointing at any single religion, but all. Anyways, I've been coming across all these nonsense in myLot of late. Yes, it has been very disturbing to me. I too wish that myLot calms down. I'm hating it and ignoring it. More so because the users in favour of these acts are somewhat stubborn. Its difficult to talk sense into them. They prefer following medieval rules, regulations and barbarisms rather than looking into a better future, cease differences, be reasonable, scientific and be humane. As tough times are coming ahead. If we don't unite, everyone's going to fall. Its easy to be a human, but very difficult to be humane. But I guess its only a fairytale that every human in this planet unites and be one, stand for each other. Difference will continue to remain. Which will lead to misunderstanding. Thus, violence, be it on the battlefield or your computer screen. Good day!

I dont care how much this video enraged people it was wrong for them to kill the people in the embassy. Murder is never ok. When I come across a discussion that I dont like or see people bashing other people or other peoples views it just disgusts me and I just go to the next discussion and ignore the one I dont like.

I am not from those countries are did I watch that movie . I hate to see people arguing over the internet as you said extreme views should not be tolerated . When I debate over something I never get carry away or try to bash a person opinion just wish we all had that same principle but people are going to be like that no matter what or where.

offensive extremest views should be taken elsewhere. mylot has in the majority good, kind people who do not want to read such rantings. i too wish we all had the same principles.

ajk111 I am having a problem understanding how a film made MONTHS ago is just now being protested..so I think there is more than just the film involved. It's too bad when anyone wants everyone to conform to their wishes...and no insults, as wrong as they are, justifies murder...imo

I am Muslim,I am angry about that movie, but I disagree with killing people, they were innocent and they didn't make anything to be killed..people are angry in the middle east but the right way is not to burn flags and destroys cars and everything...in Egypt seven police cars were destroyed and people private cars had the same also...all of that must end soon..

Hi ajk! As for me, I've been offline for quite some time so I haven't notice the threats to muslims and such that you are talking about. Based on your discussion, I think it's best for me to ignore it because first of all, I don't even know th details of the controversy. Joining in will be like adding oil to fire. Just making it worse with me getting involved. So yeah ... I'd go for the latter. Happy mylotting!

I am ignoring it. Sometimes television shows things that may be offensive to some people but I don't see why one should kill because of A MOVIE. Life is far more precious than a movie or pride for that matter. It's very bad to waste blood on those things. I as a Filipino have heard insults from movies wherein Filipinos are mostly depicted as housemaids or the thing in desperate housewives wherein they made fun about Filipino medical school. But I am not like those other people who reacts so violently. I am open minded and I do know that a movie is just a movie. Anyway I do still watch Desperate housewives up to now and I do enjoy the film.
