Saving Abroad

So, I just had a thought about something I would really love to do. I don't know if this is an absolutely stupid idea or not, what do you guys think? I would LOVE to move to Spain and start a bull rescue/sanctuary. How awesome would that be? I would love to help stop some of those animal's suffering if I could. While I'm not sure how much support this endeavor would get from locals in Spain, I think I would get a lof of donations, etc from people in America. Bull fighting is one of the most disgusting things people ever do to animals. Thing is, I don't think I could ever move out of the country, especially at this point in my life. I don't know how comfortable I would be so far away from everyone and everything I know. But how awesome would it be if something like this was started over there?

Well for one, I don't know if you know any Spanish, but if you did, you would have to really polish it up and really learn the culture in order to survive in a different country, especially if you are there in a form of protest to something that they may not be ready to change, even though it is disgusting and should not still be a part of entertainment in the 21st century.

Not sure if you've heard about this (because someone above you haven't) but a couple big cities in Spain have banned bullfighting! Yay!! But, no, I don't speak Spanish, I should take my dad there with me, he's pretty fluent. But they do speak English pretty well there, so I could probably get along okay.

I know! I was so happy when they banned it. I think bull fighting is a horrible horrible event! I will throw a celebration if it is ever banned EVERYWHERE! I understand what you're saying, and I would def. want to do my best to not offend people! Haha. But as of right now, I think I am meant to stay here in the US to start an animal rescue to fight overpopulation.

No, I didn't know that, that is wonderful!!! As for them speaking English, that is true, but I guess I am weary of doing business where I don't know the mother tongue or the culture because misunderstandings can happen and it could turn on you. But if you feel so strong about it, maybe it is what you were meant to do, so don't listen to me... LOL

Lily, Lily, Lily, what are you doing? You are not Wonder Woman and I know you would like to be, but you don't have thousands of acres of land to accomodate all the bulls. Plus, you would need to have that land right there in Spain to use as a sanctuary. It's a wonderful, beautiful thought, but start where you can really help first...right here. First of all, you need to start your business and build it up. That's where you need to be just to begin, and you know you will have your hands full right off the bat. I really understand what you would like to do, so maybe you can join some of the organizations that help these poor animals for now. They are already established so help them keep their organizations going if you want. You're needed right here.

Oh I know!! I wouldn't abandon my plans for my animal rescue here. Unless someone happened to give me millions of dollars to move to Spain and strat that bull sanctuary (and I talked someone in my family to moving to Spain with me), I won't be doing that! Haha But I am planning on applying for a job at the Arizona HUmane Society once I'm done with school (I have one more semester after this current one). And after working there for a few years I'll gain some nonprofit experience and may start writing up my own plans! (I also may apply to Best Friends and plan on working there for a couple years, if the right job comes along), but I'd want to move back to Arizona to do my own rescue. I do wish I was Wonder Woman!!! Haha

Oh, thank goodness you're not going to abandon your plans for the rescue here ...you didn't mention that in your discussion so you freaked me out. Your plans for applying at the Arizona Humane Society sounds great! You really will get some good experience there I'm sure. I hope along the way you will keep writing down all the wonderful plans you have and keep some sort of journal. Ideas pop up all the time and then we forget about them so it's good to keep them in a safe place. You WILL be Wonder Woman soon enough..just not yet.

I actually do have a little notebook I'm using right now to write things down. I already have a few pages filled up! Everything from logo ideas, building layout, and any little ideas I come up with (like my "PTSD Pups").

I think that would be a great idea to save bulls. That is something I never thought of, but hey they do need saving as well. It is sad that people use bulls for fighting. I think that bulls do not deserve a life like that or any animal for that fact. I know what you mean though about how difficult it would be to pack up and move to another country, being in a new place, were you don't know anyone and also it would be a different culture then what you are used to. It could be nice though if someone in Spain thought of the idea as well, that would be nice if something like that was going on in Spain.

Moving from one country to another is such a difficult thing. It's hard to start over again. I know, because I did. But, if you have a single purpose of going there. Then I think it's very possible. If you don't have a family yet, then I think it'll make it easier.

One thing that does NOT appeal to me about moving to another country is I know you have to continue paying taxes to the U.S. (even though you are't living there) AND you have to pay taxes in your new country. Paying double taxes?? Blah! The only family I have are my parents, siblings, nieces/nephews...I don't actually have my own family yet. But it would be EXTREMELY difficult for me to leave my family, especially my nieces/nephews. I wonder how hard/expensive it would be to "ship" bulls from Spain to the U.S....maybe I could start my bull rescue here! Haha
