my son learned to use computer when he was still 3y/o. he used to play games at y8 and watch educational videos on youtube. we were worried that he might get addicted to it and might see/watch violent movies etc., so i stricted him on what site to play and watch.. he's 7y/o now and i can say that computer helped him a lot.. he is now # 1 in their school..nice!

Eventhough I have been using a computer for over forty years I do not believe that children should be allowed near a computer till the age of ten. They should learn about the real world before they go using computers. Use of computers are serious and should be taken seriously. My son was always top of his class on computer usage. Now it is a few years since he was at school, but I still feel the same about children and computers. I have also seen the results of game addiction in many of the children he knew. Addiction is a real concern here, particularly with games consoles. I never bought my son (now 25) a games console eventhough he now owns one he also knows that use of such devices and the problems of addiction. The reason I would never purchase games stations - because I believe computers to be tools with serious uses.

What do you mean he is now number 1 in school? How does it relate for being a computer wizard? I mean does it useful? If he watches educational videos of course he can bring that kind of learning in school.

My youngest son is 5 years old. He is online almost daily. I have set-up websites which I considered can help him. So far so good as he does not really like watching violent movies. Too scary for him. Personally, I would not worry too much. Nevertheless some supervision is required.
