Carrying a large amount of cash

I had to go to work and pick up my paycheque and the cash from my boss. He had to go to his other job, so I had to meet him at a certain time. I had to carry around $1,000 cash and a $350 cheque. I felt so nervous walking around, and keep checking it was in my pocket. I got to my friends house and she helped me lift the car seat up and put it in between the seat and the trunk. We went on out hike, and grocery shopping. I was so nervous thinking this will be the day someone breaks into my car.

Living in a country where there's a petty crime every minute or so, carrying a large amount of money would be a big "no" for me. Especially that its already in the "ber" months here, the crimes definitely increase by 20% to 30%. And one of these crimes are hold-ups. Even wearing expensive jewelry is not advisable here in our country nowadays. Though our law enforcement are doing its best to reduce these crimes, still one may not be safe outside one's house.

I agree, I would be carrying around cash like that if I knew someone would steal it. Sadly, there are just that many unhonest people in this world.

I know how you feel. In the past when I'd have to carry cash from a check or something it'd just unnerve me. I used to work two jobs, one would direct deposit my money while the other I had to go to the bank and for some reason I hardly ever cashed it. It was always around $70.00 so nothing too much but still enough to make me nervous. When I carry more then a dollar or two without a wallet I'm constantly with my hand in the pocket I have the money in.

Now imagine carrying $1,000 cash, the cheque I wasnt really worried about. As it can be trace, if someone cashed it. I go to the same bank to cash it, so if I reported it stolen they can stop the cheque whereas money you cant. $70.00 is a still fair amount of money, it can pay a bill. I always do that sticking my hands in my pocket to make sure its still there.

I always feel funny when I am carrying something valuable. I guess you got it safely taken care of.

Yes, I got it home safely. I am going to cash my cheque this week and it will go towards the brats vet bill for their checkup as all three of them are going.

I also tend to get scared if I am holding a lot of cash with me. Especially when it's not even my money. I just don't talk to other people that I have that amount of money. Only me will know so I won't have to blame anyone when I lose the money. Also, that way no one will try breaking into my car or whatsoever because they'll be thinking I'm not evne worth robbing. Haha!

Yep, it's quite scary but the trick is to keep cool and pretend that you're not nervous about having a large amount of money in your pocket. Constantly checking your purse or pocket only suggests that there is something valuable in it.

I think it is a good habbit to be careful about money, because you make a lot of efforts for earning it. No one should waste any money for meaningless things because nothing will appear for no reason. However, you are over-sensitive and neverousness is helpless. Good luck!

Of course being careful is good. As today the crimes seem to keep increasing. If I carry a lot of cash, I will keep it in my pocket with the pocket cover. The trousers like the soldier's which has lots of pockets with covers. I feel that's safer as I even found it difficult to get something out of my trousers

hi ricki that reminds me of long time back I w as 26 and my dad had given me a thousand dollar check to take to the construction pe ople who were building rental property for him as it was just a half mile from my boarding house. It looked really like it was going to rain. Now I had slipped the check i the pocket of my car coat but I decided to change to my rain coat. heard the horn honk the taxi cab was there and never thought about the check til I go to the site and went to pay my fare and I said to the cab driver oh my I do not have that check I changed coats an its in the pocket of the other coat. He was one in a million as he took me back to the house waited for me to get the check then took me to the construction site.I found the foreman and told him my dads name and that it was a payment for some work. he thanked me and said "gosh you could just have mailed it to me." then he handed me twice the amount of the cab fare.so all was not lost after all. Hope your money was safe ricki when you got back.

It is quite nervous to carry large amount of cash especially when thinking that someone might get it It did happened to me before but I am with one colleagues. We went to the bank to encash amounting around $10,000. Despite that is was just a walking distance bank, it feels scary and nervous that what if someone grab it.

Hi friend, good to know that you are having a high amount check, we must be very careful while dealing money matters, as you mentioned you are nerved, first of all avoid it. You don't get any benefits with it, Be cool and believe you will keep up the cheque safe, as you mentioned you are in the car, so no one take it from you. Be bold and do your work

It is very risky because it also has your own money. It is okay that you put the money between the seat and the trunk. Your mind keeps telling you that what if someone knew that I have money in my car? So, what happened next? Did you deliver the money well? Hehe
