have you ever come across a song which you thought was composed by an artist (or the person that wrote the song for him/her) but which turned out to have been originally written by another artist (or his/ her song-writer) ? A couple of days ago I found out that a tune written by Martin Galway for an old C64 game (Yie Ar Kung Fu) had to be credited to someone else, the famous synthesizer guy Jean-Michel Jarre which you can listen here: C64: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDoGYlAzT7w orginal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFQ74lrMuHo that was really a surprise, I had no idea! in the past I found out about other cases where I would never have attributed the song to someone else if I had not come across it by accident: Phil Collins: Groovy Kind of Love originally composed by Carole Bayer Sager for ''The Mindbenders'' Phil: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6RQmhPYfSE The Mindbenders: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9B8k3wzHUvE I like Collin's version more btw. Pet Shop Boys: Always On My Mind originally sung by Elvis Presley: PSB: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSaV7fP107c Elvis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVRbtM9EXmA Elvis done it better Simon & Garfunkel: Bye Bye Love originally sung by The Everly Brothers: S&G: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR8Gl5mOpZ4 the bros: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFoIdxLBm_A are there songs where you also didn't know that they were originally composed/ sung by someone else and if so which ones? You are welcome to post YT videos, too :-) What do think about covering songs? Cheers
