In our house nobody keeps on speaking english but my one and only niece. I can't help but adore her. She learned it all from tv and from her school. She enrolled in a chinise school, they teach chinise subject and they have an advance learning curriculum . Now, not only she speaks english but she speaks chinise as well. Good for her and I'm proud of her but sometimes she annoys me. She keeps on asking me endless questions which sometimes I don't wanna answer.hehehe

Kids are like sponges. They quickly absorb everything around them. TV is one source that influence kids more because of the technique they do in helping children understand different things.

Well, that is the downside of too much tv watching. I suggest that you watch together with your niece and determine the cartoon shows that seem to be giving a negative feedback to your niece. And only allow her to watch the good ones.

Your right they easily learn things. However I noticed my niece tends to imitate negative behaviors from the cartoon characters she have seen on tv.

My 2-year old also surprises us when he utters english phrases. I believe it's the one he sees on tv. I only let him watch shows from Disney Junior and maybe oh well not maybe but definitely it is where he adapted it. The only thing is, we will also be forced to speak in english.

How old is she? Does she learn Tagalog also? Good for her; and if she can keep up with all the different languages she learns, it would be very beneficial for her future...

My niece is 5 years old.Yes she is learning tagalog language as well in school.I was surprised I've heard her sing a tagalog song and had memorized a poem too.Yet I can't help but laugh at her sometimes.hehehe

Most of young the children now who are enrolled in a private school can really speak english fluently. This is because, those schools are really encouraging teachers to speak in english in order for children to adapt that way of speaking.
