DIY workout headband - Here is a picture of the headband I made out of an old t-shirt. I asked my friend to model it for me.

I was browsing the internet when I saw an article about a do it yourself workout headband made of an old T-shirt. So I tried to make my own too. I had fun on the process and though my finished work is not really perfect I feel very proud of it. So every time I go walking I wear it. How about you guys? Have you tried doing some DIY projects? If so I'd love to read your experiences. For those who haven't, what do you think about DIY projects?

Ow not an engineer but a welder. I see how you got the metal work done. That do it yourself takes a lot of effort. Congrats.

nice headband! i am all about DIY'ing and for that reason, i love Pintrest because they have a ton of DIY projects on there! i make my own jewerly a lot of the time, my own cards, gift tags, fridge magnets, etc. my favourite is to get those glass globs that they use for the base of a vase and stick little pictures behind them with glue and then put a magnet on the back and then you have a fridge magnet!

I like looking at the Pinterest projects also. Some of the projects look like they worked a long time. I love fridge magnets.

Hi Cher! I got this idea from pinterest too. The main reason why I joined it was precisely because of DIYs. I am interested in making my own fridge magnet too. But I can't seem to picture the one made from a vase?

Our hardest DIY Project was building an above ground pond. The challenge was getting it level, as our back yard looks level, but discovered its not even close, so we added lots of sand and now part of the pond is on the concrete patio. People are amazed that we finished it, as this was a long project.

Woah! That is a tough DIY project. I don't think I can afford that. But that is such a great achievement on your part. I bet it turned out really beautiful.

I want to make my own purse. I just cant find one I love out there. Im trying to come up with the pattern and decide on the materials I want to use. It needs to be very affordable. I also want to learn to make over tee shirts to look nicer. I would love a dressed up wardrobe with out having to spend the money on one.

Hello! I want my own purse too. As I prefer original than those sold in the market which have a lot of duplicate. I suggest you use old clothes and some colorful old buttons to decorate them? About the tees, I think you could actually find a lot of DIYs in the internet which discusses that.

i did make my own bag twice. I also did my checkbook cover (linen), a cross-stitch of my graduation picture and a few more cross-stitch project. besides those, i make my own invitation cards and other greeting cards. I design and make them. I would love to do DIY projects, as long as i can do them. If not, i leave it to the pros! :)

Hi! From what I see you are a crafty person. I am curious though how did you get a cross stitch pattern of your graduation photo? I am also into cross stitch, but I guess I get easily bored so that I don't really get to finish a pattern. But maybe if I do my pictures I might actually finish one.

sorry it took me a while to reply. I am not exactly crafty, i would say however, i am stingy.. hahahaha! as for the cross-stitch pattern, i bought a cross-stitch pattern software. it makes patterns out of your picture. I did a grayscale of my graduation picture so it is limited only to less than 10 colors = threads. that way, i won't get bored easily because it is continuous. too much colors and threads are overwhelming. goodluck in your cross-stitch adventure! :)

Finally, a discussion after my own heart...DIY!!! I made a hairband as well but my daughter loved it more so now it's hers. lol You should feel a sense of accomplishment and go ahead and pat yourself on the back-you deserve it. I am an avid viewer and doer of Pinterest. Who could ask for anything more...a virtual scrapbook of everything I love. Most recently, I made a bracelet from pop can tabs and ribbon. Once again, my child gobbled that one up. I too have made refrigerator magnets with the vase glass fillers but with pictures of my own work I doodled(no pics). I believe as an artist/crafter that since it's in my own right to have a horde of materials, why not upcycle and stop creating more waste?!

Oh so we're kindred souls. I love DIYs and crafting too. Lucky daughter to have an artsy mom. Yes you are right it is good to UPCYCLE. We are helping ourselves and others and the environment too. There is this wonderful sense of fulfillment with each project we complete. Tap,tap, I'm tapping your back.

Hello Meowchie! I did put a photo. It's below the discussion. By the way, I used to make bookmarks and beaded accessories too. I sell them when I was younger. I am business minded. Making something no matter how simple it is for others indeed do make us proud.
