Apparently a beef processing plant in Alberta sent out loads of tainted meat. Something went wrong with their processing unit. Before yesterday the beef had not come to any stores I go. But last night I got some beef from Super Carnivale and today they are talking about that is one of the stores that beef reached in Quebec. They are telling us to take the beef back or to throw it in the garbage. Wow, what a mess. Any thoughts

We had the tainted beef scare here too. One of our biggest stores had some. Not sure how it happened but they got it taken care of pretty quickly. I would take it back and get credit for it atleast. Throwing it all out can prove expensive. I sure couldn't afford to just throw it out.

Oh I guess that where you live they bought Alberta beef as well. I know that USA does buy beef from Canada.

Hopefully you had not already used it. It is a mess, but better safe than sorry.

That recall was started days ago and all of the tainted beef should have already been removed from the store shelves by the stores. If they're still selling it, they haven't done their due diligence. I get daily notifications from the USFDA about all recalls. People would be surprised if the knew how many recalls that there are every day. Sometimes my notification has up to five different recalls in one day. It's amazing. And it's not just meat that is being recalled. This week there was a notice of a peanut butter, almond butter and some other kinds of 'butter' that were being recalled. Also some Dogsbutter. I had to look that one up. I didn't know anyone made dogsbutter.

So I m sure you will be returning that meat back to the market where you purchased it.. We often have recalls here in the USA...its either one]thing or another...Something always coming up in the news that something is tainted or something is just not good for you....

I just don't understand how some many things can slip inspection like that.

I've followed the story as well with some concern. The company was called XL that did the processing. If you think you might have one of the affected products I'd take it back and get it exchanged for something that is okay. I worried about it some but we haven't bought anything that was part of the recall. At least they haven't expanded it to anything we bought yet.

The list is growing now and they say it has affected every chain in Quebec now. I throw mine out.
