I get so tired easily when I study.

It has been a long time since I studied. My work is very physical and exhausting but I have learned how to pace myself and conserve energy. I also know when I should rest or keep going as I have been in this field where I am now since I was almost 17. It's been almost 13 years. Now that I couldn't go back to my job yet due to injury, I decided to learn German language. I have been so excited waiting for my operated knee to heal so I could walk and could finally go to a language school. I looked forward to learning another language which I thought I could do fast coz it shouldn't be as tiring as my job. I was wrong. This language is complicated. It has so many rules that don't make sense. I get so tired after 3 hours in the classroom. My head is spinning and I couldn't even remember what I learned in there. At home, after an hour of reviewing and doing my assignments, I already feel sleepy and dizzy. I couldn't even pull myself up to go to the gym or to the studio to work out a little bit. Seeing how persistent and hard working my 52 to even as old as 62-year old classmates, it just inspires me. It is never too late to go back into studying.

Hi friend, sad to hear about this, as you mentioned 62 year old persons are learning the same lesson, so you have the ability to learn the lessons and get good marks. Our mind and attitude is the reason for every thing, if we have positive attitude we can achieve impossible things, so just think you can learn your lessons easily, surely you don't get tired and study your lessons well. All the best

I admire you for going back to studying as a mature student! It's a big step to take. We also get out of practice about studying, and when we enter something new we find it more complex which needs more concentration which in turn makes us even more tired. I also find if I am in a stuffy classroom where there is no air that makes me even more tired. We need to take regular breaks, boost our sugar levels and get some proper air, which is not always easy when you are in a classroom. I went back to college at 32, albeit younger after taking a totally new different career move, it was so daunting, as I was the oldest male in the class, everyone was female 16 and 17. They found the studying so easy but for me I found that my head was full of so much that it was going to explode and I did get a little frustrated too. Good luck with your studying.

When you feel tired, just take a quick break. You can't imagine what 5 minutes of refresher can do. If you can, try to get out of the classroom for 5 minutes every hour. Try to get some fresh air. I agree with you, it's never too late to go back studying. As long as we live, we learn.

As we become older, our retention and attention capacity declines. There are also times that what we are trying to learn is just too difficult for us. Anyhow, I do believe you can still manage it. Just continue striving.
