hey guys, i have always been very much fascinated by the cartoon characters and even now i have been watching them. There are numerous famous characters and i think it would be unfair to name them as they are quite many. I believe that there are so many good things to learn from these cartoon character like friendship, love, affection, bond and innocence between the characters which is so much inspiring for me. They hardly show any violence or vulgarity in any sense just like the daily soaps are showing to their audiences. What do u want to say on this? Do u support me on this discussion?

Hello Subhojit, I agree that there are many good things to learn from cartoon programs, but I slightly differ on the fact that daily soaps only offer violence or vulgarity. I think, it depends more on how and what we perceive from what is shown to us or what we choose to see. There is a cartoon program being telecast on Hungama channel where the cartoon kid gives back answers to his parents, teachers and almost every elderly person. He never listens to anyone and never feels regretful for any wrong that he does. I have seen and heard many people complaining about that particular show for children are learning those unacceptable behavioral traits from the kid. Daily soaps do offer the same old strategical melodrama of daughter-in-law and mother-in-law, but honestly speaking there are shows which convey meaningful content, some reality shows put forth all kinds of mischievous and criminal happenings in our society. It is up to us what we learn and put into practice from anything that we see on tv, internet or our surroundings.

hey thanks a ton for your wonderful response. Yes u are absolutely right in your point. But i was talking about the cartoon characters as a whole which come with a handful of good lessons for all of us, yes there are some characters which are quite distracting for the children and i completely agree that the daily soaps and some hard core crime based serials have really been doing good job of spreading awareness among the society. It entirely depends on how we perceive things from each one of them as u rightly mentioned. What say?

Hello Subhojit, My say on this is that every show has a hero and a villain or lets say a heroine and a vamp be it daily soaps or cartoon shows. There are things one can learn from both. You can learn not only about the DO'S but also about the DONT'S. I enjoy watching both.

Thanks a ton for your response. Well yes u are absolutely right, ultimately the decision to grab the things while watching anything falls on us and if take the positives from it then in no way are we adversely affected. But if we always take the negative things out of these shows then the negative impact will always be there. What say?

I hardly consider that cartoons have anything to teach us, but I do enjoy watching them. I have an avid cartoon fan all my life, as I would image most people are. As for violence, cartoons such as Tom and Jerry or Road Runner and constant violence from start to finish, but I do realise that it in a totally different sense to actual violence. As far as the soap operas are concerned, they can show whatever they like because I have no intention of watching them.

hey thanks a ton for your response. Well glad to hear that u are an avid fan of watching cartoons just like me. I have never felt that Tom and Jerry or Road Runner have depicted violence in a negative way. After every fight and chase, ultimately there is love and affection for each other that prevails among these characters and u find these stuffs very less in the daily soaps. Glad to hear that u are least bothered about what goes on in the daily soaps. What say?
