All in one day. Wish I could have helped.

My friend called because she wanted me to dog sit her other dog and watch her store while she took her dog for a post operative check up. The dog had broken its let and healed wrong so he had to be operated on. But I already had a workman coming to fix our furnace which was about 6 months overdue. I had workmen coming to set up my washer and dryer which was about 1 1/2 years overdue. These appointments were a week in advance and her husband could watch the store and the other dog or she could, one of them could stay back. Both don't really have to go. I hoped I would be done early and could still help her, but furnace repairman came at 11AM (her store opens for 10AM). Then the washer and dryer people came at 3:15 PM, just when I finally finished cleaning the areas where the washer and dryer were going to be. We had moved the old washer and dryer onto the porch. That was good, easier for them to take them away. Easier for me to clean with them out of there. Made for a trial run so that we knew all the stuff to get out of the way in the house and on the porch for when they came. That way things worked out better. So taking the old ones away was fast, getting the new ones in was fast. and I could actually clean. I tried cleaning around them, but I'm not thin any more or young. Once we got them out of the way, cleaning was way easier. They spent a lot of time hooking it up and making sure everything worked right. I called my friend at 4PM. She didn't need me by then, but I thought I would call to at least let her know that I would have helped if I could have and to see how the dog was doing. So far so good with the dog. But everything in one day. I had planned on the workmen being there all in one day. But not for anyone to need me. Had they both come in the AM, I could have helped my friend. But I wouldn't have been ready for the washer and dryer people. So does it seem like days go by and there is nothing, but then plan something and suddenly (she called like the day before), there is all kinds of stuff? She would have called before then, but someone had to cancel, the other person's father died. But I'm breathing better since they cleaned the furnace. It's heating the house faster. It's soooo wonderful to wash and dry without having to worry about the bathroom flooding or the house catching on fire. We now have Speed Queen. All metal parts and guaranteed for different amounts of time. One thing was 3 years, another 5, and the rest 10 years. The other one in the shop was only guaranteed for 5 years max on the rest. Was not all metal parts. Breaks down more often. I couldn't see buying a Hot Point when I could by a Speed Queen. It costs more, but in this case, you get what you pay for.

Thank you. She understood. When you call the night before, you often can't get help because people have plans. I couldn't very well cancel all these workmen the same day they were to come.

Good then. she is a nice friend to understand your problems. If it was some other person I am sure she would have felt bad. Its hard to find good friends like that.

That's great you have got your washer and dryer now. I'm sure your friend understood. Sometimes there is not enough time in the day to get everything done.

Very true, but I did get space for the washer and dryer clean. That was a major undertaking!

This is a very full and busy post, full of mostly good things. I am so happy that your new washer and dryer are in and that the furnace is working properly before it is actually winter. I know you like to help people and you would have helped your friend, but sometimes it is time for them to find their own way to get stuff done.

Well the furnace fixing didn't hold. My husband was madder than a wet hen. So I told him since the start up slipping sound bothers him, to go bug them after work. The constant squeal bothered me most and they fixed that. One of the ducts was off a hair and he said that's like when you blow threw grass and we were loosing heat to the basement. So the house is warmer now. What a joy go get a new washer and dryer!

Hi writers Ah, so finally the new dishwasher is home I remember your earlier discussion where you mentioned the problems with the old aging one. Definitely a welcome thing to happen. Of course, when you have long scheduled appointments and that too of essential needs, it becomes difficult accommodating the new surprise invitations. I hope your friend didnt have many problems as you could not attend her. It has been a while that I had been so occupied but yes, there are always things which need some more priority over others and these should be attended to. You cannot have the cake and eat it also. (I am learning to sort out the priorities better these days as I have always been a bad manager)

It's nice having a new clothes washer and clothes dryer again. I hope you feel well soon. Calling the night before, I couldn't cancel or change the time of the workmen the same day. She understood.
