For many years, Christmas bonus had already been a part of many offices. The recipients are not limited to Christians who celebrates Christmas but Moslem employees receive it too. Finally, it was our office foundation day last Friday and the Board of Directors announced. They've agreed to give Ramadan bonus next year, not limited to Moslem employees but to Christians too. Wow this sounds like a Happy Eid-ul-Fitr, Merry Christmas and an Advance Happy New Year for next year lol! :) wowowowee =)

Why would a bonus be limited to Muslims? A bonus is due to EVERYONE who works hard for the company, whether they are Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist or of no religion at all. Religion has NOTHING to do with it, even if the Board of Directors all happen to be Muslim. If your company decided to make a 'Ramadan bonus' only to Muslims (or a 'Christmas bonus' only to Christians) it would not only be GROSSLY unfair but it would contravene all human rights and, in many countries (perhaps not yours) would be illegal! If such a practice is NOT illegal in your country, you should be out on the streets protesting until it is!

I lived at the Philippines :) most of the employees are Christians :) We treat Ramadan as an occasion too, the way we treat Christmas. Both are special in our office :)

yes true. actually, most of our board of directors are Moslems :D out of 5, only 1 is Christian :) And our office has mixed employees. Yes. respect is overwhelming at our office ;) Our office schedule is 8-12 noon and 1-5:15 but on Ramadan season, Moslem can start to work at 7:30 - 11:30 then rest.. works again at 12:30 so 4pm they can go home earlier than normal working hours. ^^

That's good news to all who are working in a Muslim related entities. I studied in Mindanao one of University intended for our Muslim brothers. Both benefits we received are given not only for Muslims but to all students either Christians or Muslims. Hope you will enjoy receiving your Ramadan bonus next year. I work abroad particularly in Middle East, we are given 4 days off paid during Ramadan and Hajj.

This is a great news to the people. It does not matter which religion the people belongs to, they are actually celebrating these special occasions together without being discriminated. However, it is not the case in my country, whereby there will only be bonuses for the people during special occasions for the Muslim such as Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and the Ramadhan. I hope that the people would also get bonuses during special occasions of other races and religion too.

your employers are very generous. the 13th month pay is already heavy on the pocket. does that mean they're giving you bonuses 2x?

For now, the only reason I know is because everyone's happy with everyone's performance. Among all the utilities here in our city, our company (water provider) is the cheapest compared to electric, telephone, cable bills =) aww :D Yes indeed. It's going to be the first for Ramadan bonus next year :D

Wow I do hope our office would give that bonus as well. By the way, I've been told that the bonus we received every December is not really a Christmas bonus. It is a performance bonus/incentive given to us for working the whole year so whether you are a Christian or not, you are entitled to received that. It is just so happen that Christmas is in December and mostly, those money we received are being used for celebrating Christmas maybe that's why many people call it as Christmas bonus.
