i like some 80's music. but i play folk music with my guitar, and sometimes i have this terrible feeling that i am stuck in a period of time, that feels like a museum, and i want to listen to and play some new songs. so though there are some periods of time where the sort of music i like best is more popular and more available, i quite like searching for contemporary music i like too, and supporting people who make it. otherwise the music we don't like will take over and win.

i think its perfectly fine, dyffer, to like music from the past. but there is a lot of money to be made from music, and therefore it attracts people who don't really care much about music. and if you are looking to the past for better quality music, than there currently is, then there is a risk that you make it easier for those who only in it for the money to win! i just think its important to support contemporary musicians, who in my opinion are making good music, otherwise the people who make bad music will just win. which makes it sound more like a battlefield than entertainment, but then in many ways it is.

well said francesca5, there are lot of musicians who's really good or great of making their music and work hard on it just to justify their music and yes quality of the music and not just to make money out of it. we'll just have to support those people who's very good in making music. we all have our own choice of music and let's go for it it's what we want but for me, i think those real musicians can only understands real good music...

The 80's is the best decade for music this century. It's the era were musical talents reach its golden peak. Music videos were creative, bands were really dressed for their styles, the kids then were just music lovers maybe because not internet and cellphones.

I agree with you - I love the 80s! Every weekend my husband and I record this program that comes on on Saturday and Sunday that features 2 hours of 80s music. We can watch old favorites and see some videos that we never saw before back in the day. They just don't make music like that any more. We were joking the other day that most of our songs from back then had a sax solo or just a saxophone playing in the background. Have you ever noticed that before? Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I love 80's music as well. I loved the big hair bands of the 80's. I also enjoyed several of the pop stars as well. The 80's were great for music. I really miss alot of the songs that I use to listen to often. I have a blog and I normally have Manic Monday Mania where I feature a song from the 80's in my post. It helps me to remember the good ole days.

Also for me 80's music is great. I grew up with 80's music and i love it. I also like it better than 90's or 2000's music. It is great because you can sing along with most of it and can dance to it as well. I even like 80's metal music like Metallica. Bon Jovi is one of my favorites from the 80's. This is a great discussion thanks for sharing.

I agree that the oldies are still the best. I can hear many songs are revived from the 80's. My favorite singer is Barry Manilow and I like the Airsupply a lot. I also have collections of Chicago songs, Bozz Scags, England Dan John Ford Coley and a lot more.

I think it was indeed. And even though I could listen to the 80's to a small part I know that 70 and 60's were also good. Sincerily music is being horrible to worst the years passes by. They are not making songs but noise. Even the hip hop that I so loved has terrible lyrics, I could relate to racism before, now it's all about woman's body parts! lol.
