If you were interested in the path of Dance Shamanism, how would you go about it

I've done some research online. I went to one workshop last spring. But we seem to only have one workshop a year. When I was younger, I would dance for longer and longer every night. I'd add 5 minutes each time. I had heard that a Shaman could dance all night. I had built up to 12 hours. I never achieved a translike state. A couple of my friends have. Now with blood pressure meds, I'll be happy if I don't get dizzy and faint. So how would you persue Dance Shamanim if you were interested in it?

i would set small doable goals for myself, reach them and then move on. I would try to meet other Dance Shamanimists and talk with them. From this I would hope to learn more about how to go about it. Having a teacher is always good. It can't be easy or it wouldn't be worthwhile. Good luck to you!

Yes, a teacher makes things much easier. I rhink you created a new word. There are Shamen, Shaamen and there are Apprentist Shamen or Shamen's Apprentises. I understood what you meant, but just in case you converse with our foreign friends using translation programs. Anyway, yes, I think I need to find a Shaman. I think I need to become an apprentice to one. I need to heal myself. Yes, I did set small goals before like 5 minutes more each time for dancing. But I need to know how to go into a trance as well as other skills that I don't even know are part of Dance Shamanism yet. I also have to be careful not to get into some kind of negative cult. A Dance Shaman who doesn't want to use knowledge as control, but as a freeing person. The one person we had up here lives in NYC now. I'm not going to NYC to live. The one time a year for me is not enough. It's exciting and then she's gone.

That's an idea, but I don't know if she'd want to give out names of the competiton. I wish she still lived up here.

The Shamanimists you mean? I was tired and trying to hurry. Finally got my notifications back. Yes, I think finding a Shaman and being an apprentice would be good for you. Meditation could help you with the trance. We don't need any negative cults. I would work up some interview questions before giving of your time. Could you contact this other person who moved to NYC and maybe she would know of someone reputable.

I know this is going to sounds crazy. Have you tried checking out youtube? I would of course research the names of the people on there claiming to be shamans, but it might give you the chance to pursue until your workshop. There is everything on youtube..you might find someone there.

Online research works for me, you can get information on most everything. When I find a reference book online I go to amazon.com to look for the book, you can often read a portion of the book, enough to see if you want to spend your money on it.

I love the preview feature, too. It helps you make sure that you don't buy something you're disappointed in. I have searched online. Most classes are very far from me.

well if it were me i would go on a long long search on the internet until i found a course i wanted, and then discover it was in the US and too far away, so that i couldn't go. however you may not have that problem, though you may have to travel a bit. but then your friend who is a medium, who you wrote about a while ago, did say you were going on a journey. http://www.trancedance.com/home.do that was one link i found, but there are probably other organisations. it does sound interesting, and it might be nice to take a trip somewhere else.

Interestingly the ones I found that I liked the best were in the UK. The blindfold bit of trance dance worries me some. Esp. since I'm on three meds that can cause dizziness. But it wasn't until the last chemo that I could fall in the dark. I have to use my eyes to keep my balance now. I think they do blindfolds in trancedance, I looked at so many that they're all comfused in my head now. Yes, you're sooo correct, I guess I have to save money to go on a trip because everything I look up that I'm intersted in, esp. the Edgar Cayce classes, takes money and is far away.
