In these days of the internet and other gadgets that vie for the attention of the kids, how can we get them to study more? I know that the use of the internet is quite beneficial but at the same it can also be a cause of distraction. There are instances when kids would rather dwell on social media sites instead of hitting the books even when their exams are already fast approaching. In this cases, how can we encourage them to take their studies more seriously but still attain a balance?

Hi, That is a very common problem now a days, I know that gadgets and the Internet is a big help for children's studies but it can be addictive too that is why in my own opinion adults/parents should put some rules and time limitations before they allow children to use it/them.

Thanks, meumeu25. I agree that the adults who are taking charge of these kids should set rules but it can be difficult at times. Do you have any suggestions regarding some of these rules and how to make the kids stick to it?

In my experience with my niece, as an adult you have to be serious or stick to the rules that you set for them. I always give her a warning and tell her I'm going to take something from her if she don't listen or ban her from doing something she likes, I truly did the things I warned her that I would several times to let her know that I am not kidding. Usually she do what I say on the third warning. Sometimes I give her a reward for being a good girl and do what I promise to her all the time. It's like a give and take process.

so it`s the teacher way for giving impression to the student that learning and studying is nice situation don`t push them..but making them indirectly learn by using some technology we can`t avoid the advance of technology..but we use technology with our purpose too...

It can be very hard to make our children realise just how important it is to study hard, and it is frustrating as a parent because the children aren't in the position to be thinking about their future and they just don't realise how much their grades at this age are going to impact on their ability to get jobs in later life. But it is just something that you have to do your best with. Give them rewards when they study, and explain to them the reasons that you would like them to do well, and you should find that it works to make them work at least a little bit harder.

Thanks, GemmaR. the reward system can actually work. Hopefully, they get to realize sooner the impact of their grades on their career later on.

How hard can that be? Out of school some toilet plus tea. Do homework first, after that dinner, if not ready with homework again finishing it after that some free time (internet or something else). If your kids are only on the internet there is something seriously wrong.
