mañana is derived from the spanish language which means "will do it later". it is eating me now. so instead, can come to the place on time, will be already late in coming because i do other things rather than preparing myself to go. as i remember before, when having a date with friends or had a transactions going to settle, i can come earlier and the person i am going to meet was late. tired of waiting, so decided from that time on not to come so very early. until it became my habit. gosh, i knew that it is a bad trait. i can still coped with it. should try or should say, will do. what about you there, what can you say about this two words being put together mañana habit? are you like that? tell it here pls thanks

I must admit I had put off things for later, especially household chores. Maybe it has also something to do with me not being enthusiastic about a particular thing I would be doing. But you are right, though, that this isn't a very good habit. And there are times that it could result in not so good consequences. There's an anecdote I heard regarding someone who almost hit the jackpot in the lottery but didn't so because of this habit. He put off betting till the next draw, and it turned out his chosen numbers were drawn as the winner of the multimillion pot. I'm not sure if this is true, but the moral of it is quite clear

you are right... in fact i have a friend that experienced so alike thing on what you are saying above. so this was what happened. they betted a maintained number on a television contest. and it was the last chance for them to bet. her mother asked her if she already sent their number on a text. and along with this asking, she also reminded her that she must send their entries earlier than two weeks or else it cannot be accepted anymore. then at the draw, their number showed as the result. but gee, she wasn't made a bet. whoa! supposedly, it should be their luck, but because of doing it later, they lost hundreds of pesos. so, her mother mocked at her for one month in a row. haha... sorry for the slipped chance for them... so thanks for joining here :)

I guess the anecdote I heard could be true since your friend had also experienced a similar thing. Manana habit is really bad

In Trinidad it's merely a matter of everyone being late for everything. Here we call it " Trinidad time " and that means at least ten minutes late for whatever. The " manana " syndrome is here to but not as bad as all that.

:) ah yeah, not really bad. here in the philippines, you can be late more than that or doing as you comply a thing; for many hours, days, or months. gosh, doing things in a later time indicated laziness. ops! me myself was being struck with that. gee. so thanks for joining here:)

Well, in Italy there is a saying its inerent to this topic. It says, "Who said later, never did." Often (and it is right) we tend to put off unimportant things, of course it is right for us to give more space to the most urgent things. On this, nothing to object. Eventually, however, we end up always return date to be assigned, instead of things that we could solve in a short time. I personally, when I get the chance I try to attend every affair, from the more urgent, to less "heavy".

oh yes, right at that. but even simplest things needs attention and time for complying it. so must say that you are good when you cope with things you need to do. :) thanks

It's one of the negative trait we Filipinos are always aware of. I do that sometimes but I don't consider it as a habit. Like you, I hate to wait. I am not so patient, so I prefer to be waited than waiting when I have to hang out with my friends. At work, I'm the opposite, I used to come early since I don't like to cram. At least I want to start working feeling relaxed. Don't worry you can overcome that. Set your time (watch) half an hour earlier than the actual time so you will have more time to prepare and not be so late:)

i experienced so alike thing before. at first year of my college days, i made my assignments, requirements in school in advance so not to cram in the end. but i do not know what happened to my reasoning because i thought things were so easy at that and i want to try what would happened if not doing it in advance and in order. well, sorted out just this time lately that, really, if you do not do things in proper time, you will encounter lots of problems in accomplishing it. so next sem, i will make it okay and that if there are things that i need to do, i will do it right away and will not say do it later. thanks for joining here :)

I used to have the manana habit even now. But even though I tell myself that I will do it later, I will really do it and my day won't be finished if I have a hanging task. I think it's normal to have this kind of habit. It's not normal if it's too often and it let people to be lazy. Tsktsk. Oh. I think it's also normal for a friend to be always late. I always expect that if I will be meeting a girlfriend or my girlfriends, there will always be this person who's going to be late. If it's not my friend, it's me. Haha

:) lols so i noticed before that i never came late to a meeting, whatever those were. that was the reason why it became as one of my habits. to wait is not good but to be waited is not light to the conscience as well. but rather we all could say that we will choose the former compared to the latter phrase. hmmm... but doing assignments late in time, whew! what good we can get from it. gee... hope can overcome it.
