I got transfered to a much more busier department that only 2 people work in the department(includes me). If one takes annual leave, it would left the other one terribly busy. Or, in my case, i would feel very sorry for my partner. So,i have decided not to take my annual leave this year. Although i have desired to get away from work. Now i feel sorry for myself since i made the decision. What about u guys, have you taken annual leave this year? Have you made any decisions that you actually did not want to? Ps, I have 10 working days annual leave, plus 4 weekends, that would be 18 days.

I hope your work partner made the same decision. Wouldn't it be terrible if your partner decided to take the leave and left you terribly busy by yourself? By the way, will you be compensated for not taking the leave? Some companies allow their employees to take cash in place of untaken annual leave. But many companies do not enforce this, and any untaken annual leave will just be rolled over to the next year or expired all together if it is not used. Especially large companies, they will make sure to hire adequate number of employees so that everyone will be able to always take their leave without jeopardizing the work. Those companies believe it is better overall if employees take their breaks from work to refresh themselves and not get burnt out.

Hi sishy, yes, my partner made the same decision. No, i don't get anything for not taking leave, and there is no roll over for annual leave in my company. Besides, i would rather to take annual leave than anything else.
