I have a basic cell phone pre-paid. I've tried to make phone calls today and nothing... it says the number has been dialed but the number doesn't actually "ring". I needed to make a call while out and about and you all very well know a pay phone is next to impossible to find. So instead of stopping by someone we just went home. I called my phone with my land line and it doesn't ring that way either. Powered it down and brought it back up several times and nothing. I checked online to see if I had money available on my phone and I do so what's the dealie-o? I did drop it the other day but have not had a problem til today.

I haven't had that particular issue but mine has been sending me the same texts over and over. I check my inbox and it shows I just received it once but it will alert me over and over. Oh..it's aggravating. I thought it was my daughter's phone messing uo and resending but it's not..it's mine. I still haven't figured that one out.

How strange! Not that I can compare because mine has no camera nonetheless internet access. In a way I keep getting messages that say I have a missed an alert or several when I didn't miss any or had only one or two not the bunch it said I had missed. :/

I also have the basic prepaid phone....well I had a problem similar to that and I was told to take the battery out for five minutes.....then put it back in and that did work. Also I was told that if you never shut it off they can't do updates....so make sure you turn it off occasionally. Hope that helps.

That's what my hubby did and it has worked just fine since. I usually don't shut it off though I shut if off when it wasn't working to see if that would make any difference.

Where are you located? The way I see it, it might be possible that Hurricane Sandy i screwing up the phone lines, and you are out of range. I often have problems with my cellphone in my basement apartment, and so I have a landline for that. Another lady in the building can not use the phone in her apartment, and has to sit on the back stairs by the door. So go check your signal, and see if that is an issue.

My signal was fine that was the weird part. I could also call up my balance but not make or receive any calls. Hubby did what Jill suggested and it worked fine ever since. The sad thing is that I didn't think of it.
