When I say travelling here, I mean riding public transportation. Like today, I am riding a bus on my way home to the province. The bus that I am riding has wifi connection, thus allowing me to have access to myLot. I was just thinking if it wasn't for the wifi connection, I would surely be bored stiff. How about you myLotters, what do you do while travelling in order to lessen the boredom? :)

Hi arystine, I'm really envious you could enjoy free vifi even riding on public transport. Here we have such facilities in a few big cities only, of course my place is not included So what I could do is playing games or listening music on phone only. Time seems to pass rapidly if having something interesting to indulge in while riding on public transports Happy posting

If I was riding on a bus that had WIFI I would definitely spend the time on My Lot as whenever I have some spare time I like to do a few my lot posts I find it's a good way to pass some time.If I was on a bus without WIFI I would be posting using my mobile phone as I have mobile internet on it.If that wasn't possible I would probably read a book. When I went on a coach tour across America I read all of Winston Churchill's history of the second world war. That's what I usually do when I'm on a plane when going on the Internet is not possible.

Wow, that's an impressive way to spend your time while travelling. Your mind is also travelling while reading. :) Thanks for the response. :)

When I was doing my degree, I spent quite a lot of time on public transport and that meant that I had to think about ways that I could keep myself occupied. One of the things that I liked doing the most was listening to my music, because I found that I was able to escape almost to a different world by doing this. You could also try to get some work done if you have anything that you need to get finished, as you don't have the same types of distractions as you might have done if you'd been trying to get it finished at home.

Just like what I mentioned earlier, music is a great company when travelling. It really is another world. There was a time that I almost danced and sang out loud inside the bus 'coz I was so caught up in the song that I was listening to. :) thanks for the response.

I never knew buses can also have wifi connections... Hehehe, anyways, well, it's a good thing you can still do mylot to fight boredom. Yeah, for sure, I would love to do that when I have a wifi phone as well. Okay, most of the time, when I am travelling long hours, I would take a nap, but surely secure my things with me. It's better to travel with someone with you so when you fall asleep, there's someone who will take caution for your things. I do tried reading while travelling. But then it isn't a good thing though cause it feels dizzy while doing that and our eyes can't handle such feeling when it took long enough... so, best way to do is to relax, breathe in and enjoy the sceneries that you are facing. Oh well, if you are a busy person, you won't take much time to breathe in and relax and enjoy the surroundings....which most of people used to do. They seem to forgot to enjoy the nature...specially we are all blessed we can still see and feel things around us...

I was not able to enjoy the scenery during my travel earlier because it is already dark. I was really bored and my butt ached from too much sitting. :D myLot helped make the travel time seem shorter. :) It made me feel productive, I was even able to start this discussion while I was travelling. :) thanks for the response.

If there is a tv monitor on the bus, you may spend your time watching. It will also lessen the boredom if you have snacks or any finger foods with you. And another option is, the most typical one, get your cellphone or tablet and make use of it's features or apps that you have downloaded. You may also watch the sceneries outside the window. Those are the things that I am doing while travelling to ease the boredom. Good day!

Hi, When I go out to travel, on the bus or on the train, I always sleep , once in a while, I played games on my phone. Both ways will make my trip quicker. Thanks for the sharing, have a nice day!

I rarely sleep while travelling alone, for fear that someone will take advantage while I'm sleeping. However, my brother is the opposite. He can sleep comfortably while travelling, whether on public transportation or on our car. Thanks for the response. :)

Like you, I get bored easy too. Even the daily commute is so un-interesting for me that I've found myself almost sleeping at the wheel a few times. That was when it took me 40 minutes to get home from work. I guess having an internet/wifi connection makes it easy when we go traveling (when we're not driving). Thank goodness for smartphones!

Hi arystine! I also keep myself busy with myLot if I am traveling. I am glad that I could participate anywhere I go. But there are times that I happened to sit beside a friendly passenger so we spent time exchanging ideas. Making friends while traveling is also good. Have a nice day!

Wow, that is so nice of you, to be friendly with a fellow passenger. It rarely happens to me, to chance upon a friendly passenger. :D thanks for the response.

While travelling by train I generally read any political or detective magazine. It saves me from boredom and I enjoy travelling. But it is different when I travel by bus.As you must be knowing, reading in a running bus is not possible.Letters and words get blurred and you can't read them.So I avoid being bored by humming any of my favorite songs.I visualize as if I am singing before a big audience.

If I will be traveling for a long time, I will read some ebooks. I installed an ebook reader on my phone and my iTouch. That way I can go and catch up on my reading and not be bored at the same time.

That's a great suggestion for a bookworm like me. :) however, up until now, I still prefer books with paper pages rather than ebooks. Thanks for the response.

Time spent on travelling while on a public transportation allows me to daydream. If I am travelling during the day, I love to watch the scenery that's why I always make it a point that I sit on the window side. On the other hand, if travelling is at night, I just listen to music and make myself doze off. Reading, playing games or surfing the net while travelling is a big-no no for me because I tend to feel dizzy. Well, if I will have a choice, I would love to kill travel time having a good chat with a good friend.

i think it's amazing that technology has given us so many things to "entertain" us now. my parent's hometown is 14 hours away by bus with 2 stopovers. growing up, we would always leave late afternoon, which i didn't like, because it's hard to sleep in a sitting position in a moving bus. there wasn't anything to watch or listen to. when we get there in the morning, we just want to eat, take a shower and catch up on sleep so the first day is pretty much wasted. when i was already working, we went to my officemate's province and left at 7am. it was so nice to see the changing scenery as we passed each province. we arrived at 5pm so when i woke up next day, i felt rested and ready to head to the beach.

I guess technology and nature has its own way of entertaining us when we travel. In my case earlier, technology prevailed since it is already nighttime when I travelled, so I was not able to appreciate much the scenery since it is already dark. Thanks for the response. :)

I play games, listen to the radio and sometimes I carry story books of my interest to keep myself away from getting bored.

I like to listen to music provided by my personal stereo. During the daytime I enjoy looking out of the window at the passing landscapes. I love a bus trip going along a coast line very much indeed. After dark it isn't possible to look out of the window. So I close my eyes and have a rest. At that time I listen to music to keep my awake.

Some time ago I had a job in another and town and I had to commute daily. I always kept a book in bag so that I was able to read while I waited for the train and while I was travelling from the my home to the other town or back to my own town. At the train station there are free newspapers that we can pick up and read. They are quite popular and sometimes there weren't any left, but if I managed to get a copy of the free newspaper I read the news in train and I also solved the sudokus in the newspaper. The rest of the time I daydreamed, thought about my day or looked at the places that we passed.

well I just love traveling. And I don't get bored while traveling. Last semester, when I am studying in Manila, I use to ride in the best everyday from home to school. and that takes about an hour traveling. And while traveling, I use that chance to talk to God and reflect on things. I also think of topics for the articles that I wrote. So traveling really helps me a lot.

In my case, to avoid boredom i make it a point to be by the edge of the seat to enjoy the beautiful landscapes such as the trees, valleys, towns etc. Travelling is my hobby.
